Abstract

This research on student concentration in the math learning process by applying the Naïve Bayes algorithm which aims to (1) determine the Naïve Bayes Algorithm in determining student concentration in the math learning process, (2) determine the chances of student concentration in the math learning process. This research uses the Naïve Bayes classification data mining method. This research was conducted at SMPN 4 Cirebon City with a total sample of 101 students The instrument used was a student questionnaire. The results showed: data mining has 4 stages consisting of datasets, data cleaning, data grouping, namely data grouping, and Naïve Bayes algorithm modeling. A model was obtained to predict the class by multiplying the probability of each criterion and then multiplying it by the probability of concentration or the probability of less concentration. There are 0.7 concentration classes and 0.3 less concentration classes. Based on the RapidMiner application, there is an Accuracy value of 94.00%. Class precision on concentration prediction has a value of 94.44%, while the prediction of less concentration has a value of 92.85%. Class recall on true concentration has a value of 97.14%, while on true lack of concentration has a value of 85.57%.

Abstract

One of the purpose of mathematics is to develop students’ mathematical reasoning abilities. But in the fact indicate that objective can’t be realized optimally. This research aims to determine the effect of application Van Hiele theory aided software wingeom to mathematical reasoning ability students on geometry. This research is case study with a sample of 40 students and using technique purposive sampling. The technique of collecting data used questionnaire and essay tests. Based on analysis of questionnaire obtained an average percentage of 63,04%, that means the student responded strongly. While mathematical reasoning ability is quite an average of 67,25%. Based on the hypothesis test analysis whit significance 5% show there is the effect of application Van Hiele theory aided software wingeom to mathematical reasoning ability on geometry. From the regression equation obtained = 8,482 + 0,847 X. The coefficient is positive, that means there is a positive correlation between the application Van Hiele theory aided software Wingeom and mathematical reasoning ability. The coefficient of determination 0,166 meaning that 16% variable mathematical reasoning ability is determined by the Van Hiele theory aided application software wingeom, while the remaining 84% is explained by other variable. The application of Van Hiele theory aided Wingeom software significantly affect students’ mathematical reasoning ability on geometry.

Abstract

The misconception is a notion of an understanding that is inconsistent with a scientific notion or an interpretation of the relationship of unacceptable concepts. This study conducted to identify the misconception of students of class VIII MTs Negeri 9 Cirebon on the concept of a tangent circle. The research method used is a mixed method. Sampling using random sampling, so that obtained 48 student samples. The instruments used in this study were multiple choice objective tests accompanied by Certainty of Response Index (CRI) method and diagnosis interview. Based on its completeness, the analysis shows that misconceptions appear on sub concepts tangent of the circle of 34,5%, a tangent to two circles of 35,6%, an outer circle and an inner circle of the triangle of 33,3%. On average misconceptions that occur in students that are at sub concepts, tangent two circles on about ten percentage are 43,8%. This analysis shows that misconceptions in the student because students do not understand the concept fully and connecting one concept to another with partial understanding, resulting in the student, makes the wrong conclusions. Based on analysis of these data showed that the CRI effectively used to determine the misconceptions and effective diagnostic interview used in knowing the reason students are causing students had misconceptions.
