Abstract

AbstractThis study is categorized as a classroom action research (CAR). This study proposed teaching reading by using SQ3R tecnique as the strategy in the teaching English at the second grade students of MAN Kota Banjarbaru to solve the students’ incompetency on reading skill. As the result of the preliminary study indicated that the students’ problems toward their reading competence was students could not comprehend the text. Their literal and inferential reading skills were low. It seems that they did not know the details passage on which main ideas, cause and effect relationship are built. In comprehending the explicit information, the students could not locate the details. They just focused on understanding the meaning of sentences. As the result they got difficulty in answering the comprehension questions. Moreover, the students could not make inferences that were implied in the text. They could not understand the text and merely took the last paragraph as a conclusion of the paragraph. Therefore, the criteria of success were directed to the mentioned problems. The results showed that by using SQ3R tecnique, the students’ reading comprehension achievement and the students’ participation in the classroom were improved  highly positive. Keywords: SQ3R, improve, reading comprehension achievement

Abstract

The current adult era, with the proliferation of technology, certainly has positive and negative sides. One of the phenomena that shows the negative side of the development of technology such as YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook is that many children use gadget media as a playmate, so that the child is not controlled in choosing content spread in cyberspace, as a result the child will be further away from religious values, humanitarian values, justice values and moral values. In this article, researchers describe the prevention of moral decadence for the younger generation, it is necessary to increase the role of education, especially the role of parents in choosing entertainment content that contains moral values for children. These efforts need to be made to prepare the next generation that has knowledge, faith and noble character. The writing of this article uses qualitative research with descriptive analysis. The author in this article uses Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis model known as the “two orders of signification” by looking for the denotation, connotation meaning of each scene. From the use of this method, researchers found that the animated film Nussa and Rarra, the episode of prayer is obligatory, contains the value of the concept of Islamic teachings, namely Akidah, Sharia and Akhlak. If parents are able to nurture and guide by choosing content that educates and implements it in life, it is expected that the children will be able to understand the values of Islam.

Abstract

Abstract Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pola verba dalam teks bacaan dalam ujian nasional bahasa Inggris di Indonesia tahun ajaran 2010 di sekolah menengah atas. Mempelajari pola verba yang ada dalam teks bacaan dalam ujian nasional bahasa Inggris mencerminkan bentuk gramatikal verba yang harus ada untuk digunakan, terutama dalam bentuk teks bacaan bahasa Inggris. Seperti yang dikatakan Hornby (1975: vi) bahwa verba formal lebih mudah dipahami oleh pemula. Oleh karena itu, teks bacaan lebih banyak menggunakan pola verba daripada tidak berpola atau tidak gramatikal. Oleh karena itu, jawaban atas pertanyaan tentang pola kata kerja, deskripsi dan klasifikasi frekuensi kemunculannya telah disediakan oleh hasil penelitian ini. Dalam semua teks bacaan, pola kata kerja yang paling sering digunakan adalah pola kata kerja 6A [S + vt + kata benda]. Pola verba 6A tampaknya merupakan pola yang sederhana dan lebih mudah dipahami dibandingkan dengan pola verba lainnya. Biasanya pola ini dominan pada teks bacaan dalam ujian nasional bahasa Inggris. Varians dari pola kata kerja 6 juga ditemukan. Mereka adalah pola kata kerja 6A, 6B, 6C, 6D, dan 6E. Dari semua pola sub-verba 6, pola verba 6A [S + vt + noun/pronoun] sering digunakan. Oleh karena itu, frekuensi penggunaan pola verba lain dalam teks bacaan ujian nasional bahasa Inggris tahun ajaran 2010 di SMA tidak sebanyak pola verba 6 (VP6). Dari semua pola sub-verba 6, pola verba 6A [S + vt + noun/pronoun] sering digunakan. Oleh karena itu, frekuensi penggunaan pola verba lain dalam teks bacaan ujian nasional bahasa Inggris tahun ajaran 2010 di SMA tidak sebanyak pola verba 6 (VP6).
