Abstract

This research explores the correlation between social prejudice, centripetal-centrifugal tendencies, and interpersonal attraction among individuals from various ethnic and religious backgrounds in Palopo City. The research method used is quantitative, using statistical analysis techniques to test the relationship between these variables. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between racial prejudice, centripetal-centrifugal tendencies, and interpersonal attraction. However, an interesting finding is that there is a very important relationship between social prejudice and centripetal-centrifugal tendencies, where even though social prejudice is high, individuals tend to move closer than away from groups that are considered different. Recommendations for follow-up include further research to understand the deeper factors that mediate this relationship and to identify other factors that influence social interactions. The follow-up plan also provides for developing social intervention strategies that are more effective in promoting tolerance, diversity and positive social integration in the Palopo City community and its surroundings.

Abstract

Eksistensi kemajemukan yang ada di masyarakat Kota Palopo salah satunya dipresentasikan oleh keberagaman agama yang dianut oleh masing-masing penganutnya. Internalisasi ajaran agama masing- masing yang kemudian saling berkomunikasi antara yang satu dengan yang lainnya dalam ranah publik cenderung menimbulkan gesekan antara penganutnya masing-masing sehingga mengancam kerukunan antar umat beragama. Olehnya itu, manajemen kemajemukan tersebut dipandang sangat perlu dilakukan dengan cara meningkatkan kompetensi asertivitas bagi individu penganut agama yang berbeda di Kota Palopo Pelatihan Asertivitas bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi penyesuaian sosial yang merangkum kompetensi yang baik dalam menyampaikan dan menghargai pendapat atau gagasan kepada penganut agama yang lain, dan kompetensi yang baik dalam meningkatkan kesetaraan hubungan dengan menjalin kerjasama dengan penganut agama yang lain.Proses pelaksanaan pelatihan asertifitas ini dimulai dari pengumpulan informasi, identifikasi kebutuhan, seleksi peserta pelatihan, persiapan tools pelatihan, kemudian sampai kepada pelaksanaan pelatihan. Hasil dari pelatihan asertivitas menunjukan efektivitas pelatihan telah tercapai dengan baik Hal ini bisa dilihat perbedaan skoring pada perilaku asertif sebelum pelatihan dan sesudah pelatihan dilakukan. Sebelum pelatihan dilakukan, maka nilai rata-rata skoring perilaku asertif peserta pelatihan adalah 163.7. sedangkan sesudah pelatihan dilakukan, maka skoring yang didapatkan adalah 187.16. Abstract. The existence of pluralism in the people of Palopo City is represented by the diversity of religions embraced by each adherent. The internalization of the teachings of each religion which then communicates with one another in the public sphere tends to cause friction between their respective adherents, thereby threatening inter- religious harmony. Therefore, the management of pluralism is seen as very necessary by increasing assertive competence for individuals of different religions in Palopo City. Assertiveness training aims to improve social adjustment competencies which include good competence in conveying and appreciating opinions or ideas to adherents of other religions, and good competence in increasing equal relations by establishing cooperation with adherents of other religions. The process of implementing this assertiveness training starts from information gathering, identification of needs, selection of training participants, preparation of training tools, then up to the implementation of the training. The results of the assertiveness training show that the effectiveness of the training has been well achieved. This can be seen from the difference in scoring on assertive behavior before the training and after the training is carried out. Before the training was carried out, the average score for the assertive behavior of the trainees was 163.7. whereas after the training was carried out, the score obtained was 187.16.
