Geguritan Arjunawiwaha berkembang dan mendapat pengaruh yang besar dari kesusastraan Jawa kuno, juga akhirnya memberikan pangaruh yang sangat dalam pada beberapa aspek kehidupan masyarakat Bali. Gaguritan Arjunawiwaha yang berbahasa Jawa kuna, dan sudah banyak para sarjana mengadakan penelitian. Penelitian terhadap aspek struktur naratif dan religiusitas gaguritan Arjunawiwaha ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui pendekatan filologi, struktural, dan hermeneutik serta didukung teknik pengumpulan data, analisis data serta studi pustaka. Dengan perpaduan teori ini, aspek struktur naratif gaguritan Arjunawiwaha ditemukan yaitu: sinopsis, insiden, latar, alur, tema, serta gaya bahasa, sedangkan dalam aspek religiusitas terungkap tentang: keteguhan hati Arjuna, ajaran-jaran kependetaan, rasa tanggungjawab, swadarma sebagai kesatrya, kemenangan dharma melawan adharma, karmaphala, simbol agama, dan cerminan cinta bangsa dan negara. Geguritan Arjunawiwaha developed and got a big influence from ancient Javanese literature, also finally giving a very deep influence on several aspects of Balinese life. Gaguritan Arjunawiwaha who spoke old Javanese, and many scholars have conducted research. Research on the aspects of narrative structure and arjunawiwaha gaguritan religiosity was carried out using qualitative methods through philological, structural, and hermeneutic approaches and supported by data collection techniques, data analysis and literature study. With this theory integrated, the narrative structure aspects of Arjunawiwaha's narrative are found: synopsis, incident, setting, plot, theme, and language style, while in the aspect of religiosity revealed about: Arjuna's determination, teachings of the clergy, sense of responsibility, swadarma as reality, dharma victory against adharma, karmaphala, religious symbols, and a reflection of the love of the nation and state.
