Abstract

This research is motivated by the swift currents of globalization that brings foreign culture that does not comply with the national culture unfavorable influence on society, especially to the younger generation. They tend to like things that are modern, rather than studying the local cultural traditions, especially the panjang jimat ceremonial tradition of Kasepuhan Palace in Cirebon. If this is left to the local cultural heritage assets will be extinct. Therefore, efforts are needed in order to preserve local cultural assets as part of the national culture. The method in this research is a case study using a qualitative approach. Data obtained from observation, interviews, document study, the study of literature and literary study. From the research conducted there are some things that a finding that the panjang jimat ceremonial tradition of talisman something meaningful ceremony traditions in the form of a convoy of royal heirlooms procession as a symbol depicting the birth of Prophet Muhammad . The goal is to commemorate the birth of a human noble Prophet who has good moral and should be a good role model and true . Long amulet derived from the word "Long" and "The Talisman". The word means the length of a human lifetime, while the amulet or "ji" or siji means one and "mat" or dirumat means something to be remembered, maintained and preserved. Thus, we can conclude talisman length or one that means something human lifetime must be remembered, preserved and maintained.\Keywords : tradition, ceremony, long fetish, local culture, preservation, cultural, nation, noble value.
