Abstract

Patients with mental disorders are more susceptible to relapse due to non-adherence in taking their medication as scheduled. Lack of encouragement/motivation from family members to take their medication can lead to further non-adherence. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and medication adherence in patients with mental Illnesses in the X Community Health Center work area. In this study using a cross-sectional study design, the population in this study were patients with mental disorders as many as 110 respondents. The number of samples taken was 80 respondents. The study was conducted in the working area of the X Health Center, which was carried out from April to July 2026. The largest family support of respondents was in the good category as many as 46 respondents (57.5%). This is because the family is the closest person to the patient so it influences medication adherence. The largest respondent's medication adherence was in the compliant category as much as 73.3%. This can be seen from the majority of respondents who regularly go to the hospital to take medication and control the progress of treatment. There is a Relationship between Family Support and Medication Adherence of Patients with Mental Disorders in the Working Area of the X Health Center with a p value of 0.02. This research is expected to provide suggestions and input to improve family support in efforts to improve medication adherence in patients with mental disorders.
