Abstract

Galing Market which operates on Wednesdays, making this market better known as the Wednesday market, is one of the traditional markets located in Sambas Regency which has the potential and contributes to improving the economy of the local community and immigrants. The problem in this study is how the contribution of the Galing traditional market in improving the community's economy. The subject matter is then lowered into several sub-problems or research questions, namely: 1) How is the contribution of the Galing traditional market in improving the community's economy, 2) What is the view of Islamic economics on improving the community's economy in the Galing traditional market?. This research is a descriptive research with a qualitative research approach. The results of this study indicate that the Galing traditional market has the potential to improve the economy of traders. The potential for Galing's market is first, a cheaper price. Second, more varied products, strategic timing and location. In addition, other supporting factors are, first, preventing fraud in the market such as the problem of fraud in scales and measures. second, preventing the sale of damaged goods, as well as actions that damage morals. By maximizing the potential that exists in the Galing traditional market, it can increase the income of traders and encourage the economic independence of the community in Galing District, realize the independence of both individuals and the community by carrying out productive activities to achieve self-sufficiency, it aims to achieve the welfare of the people and not depend on others. In general, the economic behavior of traders both in terms of merchandise sold, weighing equipment, usury and gharar, prices, business ethics of traders in the Galing traditional market does not violate Islamic law.
