Abstract

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) may affect all spheres of a child’s life. One of the areas of the behavioral spectrum need to be focused is affected. Thus, the study is enthused in impaired emotional regulation (ER) affecting children with ASD. The significance of ER is related to that promoting adaptive behavior in children; indeed, disturbed ER in ASD children leads to emotional and behavioral problems. Commonly children with ASD lack adaptive ER strategies thus they react impulsively and inadequately to emotional stimuli thus it affects their psychological well-being. Though ER in ASD children is intrinsic the nurturing of these children with an understanding of ER can promote better psychological wellbeing. Thus, study objectives to examine a) the impact of ASD on their ER b) the impact of ER on the psychological wellbeing of children with ASD c) To develop awareness among these parents regarding the impact of ER on the psychological wellbeing of their ASD child. d) To propose a new model of parental education about ER and its significance on psychological wellbeing of ASD children. This study takes a base on the keenly examined past evidence on impaired ER in ASD children and its impact on psychological wellbeing. Proposal for aiding ER through parental education has introduced. The conclusion drawn in this study is that the intervention can be more promising with educating parents regarding ER, may help their child to gain maximum from therapeutic intervention. The new proposed model of intervention extends the further scope for research in this regard. Keywords: ASD; Emotional regulation, Parent’s education, Intervention.

Abstract

The present study aims to explore different physical characteristics towards a successful performance of archery and to predict the most vital attributes that contribute to the achievement of high archery scores. 32 archers drawn from different archery programmes participated in the study. Standard physical characteristics tests were conducted, and archers’ shooting scores of one end were recorded. Multivariate techniques of principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis (HACA) and discriminant analysis (DA) were used to achieve the aims of the study. The PCA after varimax rotation indicates two variables containing 12 and 2 varifacators (VF). The First VF revealing high positive loadings from weight (0.94), calf circumference (cc) (0.89), abdomen cc (0.97), hip cc (0.97), thigh cc (0.95), triceps thickness (0.76), biceps thickness (0.75), subscapular thickness (0.83), suprailiac thickness (0.85), abdominal thickness (0.85), front thigh thickness (0.76) and medial calf thickness (0.80) revealing that endomorphic body positively affect the performance of the sport. The second VF discloses high negative loadings from height (-0.88) and arm length (-0.90) describing that body height, and arm length negatively affects the performance of the sport. HACA classified the archers into three classes based on the PCA outputs namely; High-performance class, Medium-performance class and Low-performance class. Standard, backward and forward stepwise DA discriminate the classes from the 14 predicted variables with accuracies of 74.19%, 96.77% and 93.55% respectively. The findings from the current study can be helpful in mapping out potential athletes in archery based on their physical characteristics. Keywords: Intelligent prediction, Archery, Physical characteristics, Multivariate techniques.

Abstract

Background: Empathy is the capacity to appreciate what another individual is feeling and suffering from within the other individual's setting or orientation, i.e., the capacity to accommodate individuality in another's shoes. Thereafter, empathy permits an individual to intermingle efficiently in the community. Then empathy acts as superglue of the universes of discourse, pulling us to support others and end from hurting others. Methods: This was a cross sectional study. The study populations were Dental students of Dhaka Dental College and Mandy Dental College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Data was collected early part of 2017. The universal sampling method was adopted. Cambridge Empathy Scale Questionnaire was utilized for the data collection. Results: There was no statistically significant (p=0.079) difference observed in empathy level between male (38±9.1) and female (39.8±8.6). However statistically significant (p<0.001) differences were observed between public and private dental schools. The study found that 83.4% (297) and 16.6% (59) of SP had good and poor level empathy respectively. Conclusions: Empathy is imperative in the physician-patient rapport. Females scored higher empathy level than their male counterparts.  Additionally, empathy level was higher in Year-I than other years of study. Keywords: Empathy, Dental Students, Bangladesh.

The study participants were Dental students of Dhaka Dental College and Mandy Dental College, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Data were collected in early 2017. The universal sampling method was adopted. ACLEEM validated instrument was utilized for the data collection. Data were using SPSS Version 21. Results: The response rate was 100%. The total study population was 134. Among the current SP 32.8% (44) and 67.2% (90) were male and female respectively. The reliability and Validity of the Questionnaire regarding local context were Cronbach’s alpha 0.939 and convergent validity -0.013-0.682 There were no statistically significant (p>0.05) differences observed between sex and dental colleges in the domain of Clinical Teaching, Clinical Training and Total when analyzed with an independent t-test. Conclusions: The ACLEEM instrument was valid and reliable to measure ambulatory educational environment for Bangladeshi for Dental School. Interpretation of defenses was used to gain insight. The interview and free-association method was used in the study in the analysis and structuring the defense of patient. Of the 100 case studies, 40(40%) of them were intervened using short-term dynamic psychotherapy. Other cases (60%) were not indicative for short-term dynamic psychotherapy. The data was statistically analyzed by using Chi-square with Yates's correction test for association. The statistical significance was set at 5% level of significance (P<0.05). Result this result shows the fruitfulness of Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy in the Intervention of Marital Disturbances. More than 50% of sample population found to be highly satisfied and none patient couple was dissatisfied that shows the effective ness of this intervention. Keywords: Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, Defense Analysis, Patient Couples, Marital Therapy.
