Abstract

This study aims to analyze the household income structure of community oil palm harvest workers, analyze the consumption expenditure patterns of households of community oil palm harvest workers, analyze the exchange rate of household income of community oil palm harvest workers in Air Rami District, Mukomuko Regency. The population in this study were smallholder oil palm harvest laborers. The sample of this research was 100 households of oil palm harvest laborers. The data analysis method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, which includes analysis of the household income structure of smallholder oil palm harvest laborers, total household income of smallholder oil palm harvest laborers, analysis of consumption expenditure patterns, and analysis of the exchange rate of household income of smallholder oil palm harvest laborers. The results showed that the income structure of oil palm harvest laborer households in Air Rami Subdistrict consisted of three incomes, the total household income was Rp. 1,672,418. For the total consumption expenditure of harvest labor households is Rp. 2,165,125/month which consists of two expenses, namely food expenditure and non-food expenditure. So that the exchange rate of oil palm harvest labor household income is obtained at 0.63 or NTPRT < 1, where the welfare of oil palm harvest labor households is categorized as not prosperous. The welfare level of oil palm harvest laborer households can be categorized as prosperous, with several policies, namely that oil palm harvest laborer households must look for other jobs, for example, such as small micro businesses (processed chips, cakes, and so on) or other family members of productive age participate in working to meet household needs.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the level of welfare and analyze the factors that can affect the level of welfare of smallholder oil palm harvest workers in Air Rami District, Mukomuko Regency. Methodology: This study used Accidental Sampling with the Rao Purba formula, so that 100 respondents were obtained. Data analysis was carried out using the 2023 BKKBN indicators and multinomial logistic regression tests. Results: The results of the study showed that the level of welfare was at several levels of categories, namely in the pre-prosperous family category, prosperous family 1, and prosperous family 2 with the majority being in the prosperous family category 1 of 78%. Factors that can influence are income factors and the number of dependents in the family, while the other 3 factors, namely age, formal education, and work experience of smallholder oil palm harvest workers, do not affect the level of welfare of smallholder oil palm harvest workers. Findings: Many young families have difficulty owning land due to economic limitations, so heads of households choose to work as harvest workers, even though they still face the challenges of welfare without land ownership. Novelty: This study analyzes the welfare of smallholder palm oil harvest workers based on BKKBN indicators. Having a large plantation area, the majority of workers do not have their own land due to economic limitations, so they depend entirely on palm oil harvest work as their main source of income.

Abstract

Masyarakat Kecamatan Air Rami bekerja sebagai buruh panen sawit rakyat karena akses yang mudah dan penerimaan yang stabil. Namun, fluktuasi produktivitas tandan buah segar (TBS) dan keterbatasan akses ke sektor formal menyebabkan ketergantungan pada pekerjaan ini. Untuk mengurangi risiko ekonomi, rumah tangga melakukan diversifikasi penerimaan melalui pekerjaan sampingan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sumber penerimaan, tingkat diversifikasi menggunakan Income Diversity Indeks (IDI), dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi Income Diversity Indeks (IDI) rumah tangga buruh panen sawit rakyat. Sampel sebanyak 100 rumah tangga dipilih dengan teknik snowball sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta kuesioner, dan dianalisis secara deskriptif dan kuantitatif dengan regresi double-log.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata penerimaan dari sektor pertanian (Rp 1.789.150 atau 89,31%) dan non-pertanian (Rp 214.250 atau 10,69%), dengan IDI sebesar 1,39 (kategori rendah). Pekerjaan sampingan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap IDI, sedangkan variabel usia, pengalaman kerja, pendidikan, dan jumlah anggota keluarga tidak signifikan. Diversifikasi dilakukan untuk mengurangi ketergantungan pada satu sumber penerimaan dan meningkatkan stabilitas ekonomi rumah tangga.

Abstract

Poverty is not only seen from the inability in economic terms, but also the inability to fulfill education, health, and living standards. This study aims to determine the poverty status of households of smallholder oil palm harvest laborers in Air Rami Subdistrict, Mukomuko District, as well as the factors that influence multidimensional poverty. The research method used a quantitative approach with logistic regression analysis. The results showed that 30% of smallholder oil palm harvest laborer households were categorized as multidimensionally poor, with key indicators such as cooking fuel, years of schooling, and poor nutrition. Factors such as number of working days and health have a significant influence on multidimensional poverty, while variables such as land size, age, family dependents, alternative employment, and work experience are not significant. This study concludes that the multidimensional poverty of harvest labor households in Air Rami Sub-district is complex and multidimensional, not only related to income but also lack of access to basic needs.
