Abstract

Colon targeted delivery systems of Tegaserod maleate based on osmotic technology were developed. The developed systems consisted of osmotic core (drug, osmotic agent and wicking agent), coated with semipermeable membrane (spm) containing guar gum as pore former, coated core were then further coated with enteric coating to protect the system from acidic environment of stomach. the effect of various formulation variables namely the level of wicking agent (sodium lauryl sulphate), osmotic agent in the osmotic core, the level of pore former (guar gum) in spm, were studied on physical parameters and drug release characteristics of developed formulations. Tegaserod maleate release of drug is directly related to the level of pore former, wicking agent and osmotic agent. The drug release from the developed formulations was independent of pH.  The thickness of enteric coating could prevent formation of delivery pores before contact with simulated colonic fluid, but had no effect on drug release. Result of spm studies showed the formation of in-situ delivery pores in the membrane from where the drug release occurred, and the number of pores formed were directly related to the initial level of pore former (guar gum) in spm. the manufacturing procedure was found to be reproducible and formulations were found to be stable during 3 months of accelerated stability studies.

Abstract

The purpose of writing this review was to investigate, compile and present the recent as well as past literatures in more concise way with special focus on approaches which are currently utilized in the prolongation of gastric residence time. Drug absorption in GIT varies and increased gastric retention time of the dosage form extends the time of drug absorption. Thereby implementing site specific drug release in the stomach for local and systemic effect. It is very useful for the drugs which having narrow absorption Rate. These includes floating system, swelling and expanding system, bio / mucoadhesive system, high density system and other delayed gastric emptying devices.

Abstract

It is fascinating to communicate that, the word Pharmacy is frequently animated up with alternative word Tele-pharmacy. In India, a pharmacist should be registered with state pharmacy council beforehand and then one can start working and inevitably one befits enumerated with pharmacy council of India when one is enumerated with all state pharmacy council, thus one can practice all over India.Telepharmacy is the use of telecommunications technology to provide pharmacist services to distant populations. Telepharmacy services may include drug review/monitoring, provision of drug information, medication dispensing, verification of oral and sterile compounding, patient assessment, patient counseling and medication therapy management To advance the circumstances is that a regulation must be endorsed where succeeding reflections must be retained. The implementation of telepharmacy systems is rapidly expanding due to the increasing affordability of videoconferencing technology and the increasing capability of the pharmacist to securely access electronic patient health records and perform traditional pharmacy practice activities remotely via the Internet. The number of scientifically-rigorous evaluations of telepharmacy has not kept pace with the rate of telepharmacy adoption. There must have been a certificate scheme according to the area of practice.Tele-pharmacy will be a great boon for a country like India with very huge population, where people from remote areas cannot reach upto a retail pharmacy, can order and buy drugs through online pharmacy.
