Abstract

Abstract: This paper will discuss the identity struggle and discourse of thought in the Islamic world, especially in the Islamic civilization and culture of Iran. That is, by trying to explain various religio-philosophical discourse presented by Soroush to restore Iranian civilization from an identity crisis, psychological deterioration, to the ontological dislocation that have obscured the authenticity of existential society. This paper will also explain why Soroush calls for new directions in theology and Islamic political discourse, particularly in Iran, which is supported by various philosophical discourse. By involving the philosophy of science (epistemology) in understanding human religiosity, Soroush philo­sophical thought also necessitates a new perspective of looking at reality, both the reality of individual, social, or global.Abstrak: Tulisan ini akan mengurai pergulatan identitas dan wacana pemikiran di dunia Islam, khususnya di kancah peradaban dan kebudayaan Iran. Yaitu de­ngan berusaha menjelaskan pelbagai wacana filsafat-keagamaan yang di­ketengah­kan Soroush untuk memulihkan peradaban Iran dari krisis identitas, keterpurukan psikologis, hingga dislokasi ontologis yang telah mengaburkan otentisitas eksistensial masyarakatnya. Tulisan ini juga akan menjelaskan mengapa Soroush menghendaki adanya arah baru dalam diskursus teologi dan politik Islam, khususnya di Iran, yang ditopang oleh pelbagai wacana filosofis. Dengan melibatkan filsafat ilmu (epistemologi) dalam memahami religiusitas manusia, pembacaan Soroush juga meniscayakan suatu perspektif baru dalam memandang realitas, baik realitas individual, sosial, maupun global.

Abstract

Abstract: 'Irfa>ni criticism is motivated by al-Jabri's anxiety that claims superiority intuition of human rationality. It means that 'Irfa>ni does not realize sense authority in the process of knowledge construction, to be questioned, and even sued. Al-Jabri assumes that 'Irfa>ni actually does not represent the highest reasoning models that are able to enrich truthful. Mystics claim that 'Irfa>ni is unreasonable because the level of its reasoning is higher than human brain. Furthermore, it could not be proven by scientific objectively, just imaginative intuition. Moreover, its reasoning is irrationality and consists of mythological elements and fantasy. In hence, 'Irfa>ni is the lowest rungs of Arabian Islamic epistemology which has lost its critical dimension.Keywords: Tura>th – ‘As}r al-Tadwi>n – al-Zama>n al-Tszqa>fi –la raison constituante (al-‘aql al-mukawwin) – la raison constituée (al-‘aql al-mukawwan) – al-‘Aql al-‘Irfa>ni

Abstract

Abstract: At the beginning, the development of kala>m tradition is to understand the activity of ‘thinking’ as a 'discussion', not an effort to 'proving' logically (demonstration). So the logical structure of Islamic theology functions as activities rhetorical-dialectic (dialectical theology). Rapidly, Kalam discourse intersection with Aristotle syllogism has brought a new dynamic in the face of Islamic theology. Although the development of logical structure of Islamic theology is quite dynamic, but according to Josef van Ess, the philosophy of Aristotle had never really 'conquered' the influence of Stoicism in designing Islamic theology. Discourse kala>m always confined within the framework of baya>ni. Kalam is being stuck in nalar baya>ni itself get various lawsuits. Qiya>s baya>ni considered cannot explain inimitable (incomparable) at all, the reality of God. Epistemology study about kala>m done by Josef van Ess, gives an understanding that Islamic tradition has a distinctive character of its rationality. Thus, assuming no growth of rationality in Islam refuted itself. Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of Islamic populism, the nature of populist thought and its relation to mass hysteria. Global political events involving large numbers of masses have put the study of populism shifting from the periphery to the center of attention. In its various manifestations, populism represents a rejection of political elites which is based on the argument that populism is a response to a crisis of legitimacy for political institutions and actors. Based on descriptive and critical content analysis, this study aims to examine the trend of populism at the level of digital culture which is dominated by spectacle and market culture. By investigating how populist thinking works, this research seeks to understand the dynamics of populism and the logical consequences it entails, especially regarding the future of the actual heterogeneity of society, both in religious and cultural contexts, behind its tendency to totalize and homogenize everything through the logic equivalent in populism.
