Abstract

This journal discusses social studies learning planning that can improve the performance of social studies teachers in teaching, the place where this scientific work was made is at SMP Negeri 1 Pagar Merbau. The purpose of this research is to see and describe the planning and implementation of IPS learning in class. This type of research is qualitative with a naturalistic approach. The source of the data from this study was interviews with social studies teachers at schools and students. The results of this study are the creation of lesson plans (RPP) that can improve teacher performance in teaching classes so that they can automatically increase students’ interest in learning. Because the good readiness of a teacher before teaching will have a positive impact on student learning itself. Keywords: Learning Planning, IPS Learning, IPS Teacher Performance

Abstract

This paper will describe some of the problems that are often encountered in learning Social Sciences (IPS). In addition, social studies learning problems will be explained from the lowest level of education, namely elementary, middle and senior levels. Social studies learning problems for each level of formal education will certainly have differences in each problem. Social studies lessons given at the elementary school level are given by examining several events, concepts, facts and generalizations and related to social issues which contain social studies material, namely geography, economics, history and sociology. Meanwhile, IPS learning at the secondary school level is given in an integrated or comprehensive manner, which is commonly known as Integrated IPS. At the middle school level, social studies lessons have been given separately, such as history lessons, economics lessons, sociology lessons and geography lessons have been taught separately. Each level of education has differences in the application of IPS learning in the learning process, therefore the identification of social studies learning problems will be different for each level of education. When IPS learning is given in an integrated and separate manner, different problems will arise between the two. Social studies learning is known as boring learning, therefore here we will explain some of the social studies learning problems that exist at every level of formal education in Indonesia. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine: the effect of using film as a teaching material in the learning process for 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Medan. The population in this study were 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Medan city. The sample in this study consisted of 9 students. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, questionnaires and documentation methods. The data analysis technique uses descriptive inferential statistical techniques which describe the collected data by means of depicting percent and using a simple regression formula to find the truth of the hypothesis, then it is concluded in a qualitative and qualitative descriptive way. The results showed that there was a positive effect on the Integrated IPS subject scores after using film media, which was indicated by an increase in semester scores after applying film media. Increasing the value of this semester will automatically increase the average value obtained by only 29.88 with a standard deviation of 6.948 and then increase to 84.40 with a standard deviation of 6.481 after using film media. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the use of film media as teaching material in learning has an effect on the learning process, especially in the field of Integrated IPS. Abstract

In simple terms, the notion of learning is an effort of a person or group in achieving learning objectives that have previously been designed before carrying out learning using strategies, approaches and methods. Learning and teaching are concepts that are related to the teaching and learning process. Social studies learning itself uses several relevant sources and uses learning media as an addition to students' knowledge to understand the material. Social studies learning in elementary schools is expected for students to have knowledge and insight regarding the basic concepts of social sciences and humanities, in addition to having social sensitivity to social problems around their environment. Integrated learning applied in elementary schools will help students to have skills in solving social problems through understanding the basic concepts of Social Sciences. Social studies learning is presented with theme-based learning, in one book there are several learning themes related to social studies learning. These themes are related to everyday life, but there are social studies learning values ​​contained in the learning themes. Keywords: Integrated Learning, IPS, SD
