Abstract

Title: Updating Joglo Construction Without Four Saka guru (Case Study of Pendopo Pura Agung Blambangan of Banyuwangi)   Current architectural developments to maintain its sustainability have reached the awareness stage to explore the potential for the diversity of archipelago architecture, one of which is exploring the potential for the Joglo traditional house for the future. The demand for wide spans often comes to the fore, so it is not uncommon for new construction designs to respond to the demands for wide spans free from pillars. However, a solution is needed to solve this problem. The pillars and their frames are the main part of the main reinforcement system for the roof load as a whole, so they become prerequisites on behalf of the Joglo. This writing aims to analyze the updated form of construction without pillars that still maintain the Joglo form. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach by examining the process of eliminating the four pillars of teachers by analyzing the reliability of the structural system of the Puri Agung Blambangan pavilion and the Sabha Swagata Blambangan pavilion in Banyuwangi, East Java. The research results show how the construction of the four pillars and their frames are believed to be the main strength to withstand the roof’s weight. The construction system without the four pillars of the guru and their frames reduces the rigidity of the building because the strength is transferred to the pillars on the edges of the building and does not reflect the joglo structural and construction system. Many knot points have appeared without the pillars and the framework of a construction system, increasing the risk of collapse.

Abstract

Title: The Resilience of Buildings with Adaptability to the Environment (Case Study: Tomb of Syekh Mudzakir in Bedono, Sayung, Demak)   Coastal areas have the potential to be affected by abrasion and tidal floods. Syekh Mudzakir's grave is in Tambaksari Subvillage, Bedono Village, Sayung Subdistrict, Demak District, and in the coastal area of the North Coast (Pantura) of Java Island. However, the existence of the tomb and its buildings to this day still survives amidst the marine environment that surrounds it. This tomb has become a religious tourism destination in Demak Regency, with the number of tourists increasing. This research aims to determine and explore the resilience of tomb buildings that are adaptive to abrasion and tidal flood environments. This research is field research. Research data uses primary data and secondary data through the results of observations, interviews, and documentation. The research analysis uses qualitative descriptive analysis. This research shows that Syekh Mudzakir's tomb does not float in the middle of the sea. However, the tomb survives adaptively to the environment by adapting the area, building development, building structural systems, and expanding the site to be robust against abrasion and tidal floods. This research concludes that the family and community survive the grave by adapting to the environment and mitigating disasters that befall the grave area.

Abstract

Title: Analysis of The Problems in the Form of Roof Truss Construction in Indonesia The Nusantara archipelago has various architectural forms, such as traditional houses with various roof shapes. These roof shapes consist of various forms of roof support frame construction. Problems arose when the Dutch came and brought the concept of truss construction. This concept was massively applied throughout the Nusantara archipelago, even making the architectural construction learning system in Indonesia use methods developed by the Dutch, making it hard to align with construction in the archipelago. This study uses a qualitative method with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The analysis was carried out by identifying and comparing traditional houses' roof frame construction supports and their roof slabs with houses with horse-horse construction from the Netherlands to gain knowledge of the problems in the roof construction of both. The findings of this study are that the roof shape and support construction are one package as an interaction between the shape and support construction. These diverse forms also give birth to various roof support frame construction forms. However, the influence of the Dutch horse-horse construction has made experts more inclined to use the Dutch hanging horse concept rather than developing roof support frame construction that has been proven to be integrated with the roof shape. Nowadays, the hanging truss concept has many applications in the construction of traditional houses, which is considered less suitable.
