Abstract

Relationship flourishing demonstrates the existence of meaningful connectedness and activities that aim to help couples grow as individuals and couples. When individuals are happy and able to carry out their roles functionally, this will have a positive impact on the mental health of each family member (Fower, 2016). This study aims to examines whether there is a mechanism for the role of self-esteem on relationship flourishing in husband/wife with AIM and positivity factors as mediators. Data were collected through self-esteem, AIM, positivity and relationship flourishing questionnaires using google form. There are 252 husbands and wives who are participated in this study. Data analysis uses Model 4 of SPSS PROCESS (Hayes, 2018). The results show that self-esteem does not play a direct role in relationship flourishing and only positive emotions act as a mediator between self-esteem and relationship flourishing in husband/wife. Suggestions are discussed further in this study.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the role of traits in family resilience, with positivity as a mediator. Data were collected using The Big Five Inventory (BFI), The positivity questionnaire and the family resilience questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the Hayes PROCESS model 4. Research respondent consisting of 272 parents (mostly female and average age of 44 years). The results of the study showed that positivity (positive and negative emotions) acts as a mediator between the five types of traits (neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness) toward family resilience. Traits will have a greater role on family resilience if mediated by positive emotions and negative emotions. However, positive emotions have a greater impact than negative emotions as mediators between traits and family resilience. However, the impact of positive emotions was stronger than the impact of negative emotions on family resilience. In future research, it is recommended that attention be paid to the degree of stress experienced by respondents, which may be an important variable in describing the adversity faced by parents.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of social provision and hope toward community resilience of survivors of the Cianjur earthquake. It was conducted with 135 survivors from five villages heavily affected by the earthquake. Data were collected using the Index of Perceived Community Resilience (IPCR) scale, the Adult Hope Scale (AHS), and the Social Provision Scale (SPS). Data analysis was performed using hierarchical multiple regression. The results show that social provision has a greater influence than hope in explaining community resilience. Although hope was significant in the initial model, but the effect becomes insignificant after taking social provision into account. These results highlight the importance of social factors in strengthening community resilience, particularly through supportive social relationships and access to aid in post-disaster contexts. Demographic factor (gender, age, education level and occupation) does not have a significant role toward community resilience of survivors of the Cianjur earthquake.
