Abstract

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurs due to decrease a progressive and irreversible in kidney function, which requires life-long replacement therapy for renal function. Anemia is one of the effects due to decreased kidney function, a diet that is too strict, and a result of the dialysis process. This is of course a concern for health workers to maintain the quality of life for patients. Objectives: To determine the relationship between age, gender, nutritional status, duration of hemodialysis, and dialysis adequacy with hemoglobin levels in hemodialysis patients. Research method: This research design is descriptive correlation with a total sample of 65 respondents taken by random sampling with random number technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire and a sheet of the measurement of nutritional status, dialysis adequacy, and hemoglobin levels. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between the length of time undergoing hemodialysis and hemoglobin levels in hemodialysis patients with p-value of 0.036. While, age, gender, nutritional status and dialysis adequacy were not related to the patient's hemoglobin level (p-value > 0.05). This can be influenced by the patient's quality of life and good management of anemia in the patient. Conclusion: The results showed that the longer the patient underwent hemodialysis, the hemoglobin level was better, so it was important for nurses to make appropriate interventions so that the patient's hemoglobin level could be maintained and had an impact on the patient's quality of life.

Abstract

Introduction: Complications of surgery may lead the patient to experience ill and even death. One of the complications in the patient after surgery with spinal anesthesia is the incidence of hypothermia. Hypothermia can occur as a result of a combination of anesthesia and surgery that causes disturbance in body temperature regulation that can make decreasing body temperature. Method: This research uses a descriptive correlational method with a retrospective approach, with total sampling technique amount of 106 respondents, using a checklist sheet research instrument.Data analysis techniques spearman rank. Results: The characteristics of surgery patients with spinal anesthesia in the operating room of Yogyakarta "JIH" Hospital were mostly female, 87.9%, most of whom were adults 74.1%, the highest frequency of surgery with spinal anesthesia duration >2 hours 55.7% and had an incidence of hypothermia 54.7%. Correlational statistical analysis obtained a Cramer's value of 0.371, a correlation coefficient value of 0.348 with a probability value (p-value) of 0.000. Conclusion: There is a relationship between spinal anesthesia and hypothermia incidence among postoperative patients in the operating recovery room "JIH" Hospital Yogyakarta. The direction of the correlation is positive and closeness is sufficient.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effect of cancer patient profiles receiving chemotherapy on Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV). This study aimed to identify the factors related to the development of CINV in patients with cancer undergoing chemotherapy and to provide a better understanding of how patient characteristics influence their vulnerability to these side effects. Methods: This was a quantitative study with a correlation study design. The sample size consisted of 37 patients who had received chemotherapy. The Rhodes Index of Nausea, Vomiting, and Retching (RINVR) was used, with multivariate data analysis through multiple regression. Results: Among the 37 samples, the most common data findings were female sex (75.6%), age 41-65 years (78.4%), breast cancer type (43.2%), cancer stage 3-4 (29.7%), chemotherapy cycle 1-4 (54.1%), and mild CINV (70.27%). The relationship between the demographic profiles and CINV was significant, with a p-value of 0.000. The F-value was 37.561 and the R-squared value was 0.688. Meanwhile, the relationship between chemotherapy profiles, such as cancer type, cancer stage, and chemotherapy cycle, had an F-value of 42.081 and an R-squared value of 0.793.0.793. Limitations: This study may have a limited sample size, which could affect the reliability and generalizability of the findings. Larger sample sizes would provide more robust and representative data. Contributions: This study provides valuable insights into how various profiles of cancer patients (such as age, sex, type of cancer, and overall health) may influence the likelihood of experiencing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.
