Abstract

This study aims to find out the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model to improve student learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 2 Mangoli Tengah. The subjects in this study were all students of class VII, totaling 20 students. The instrument used in this study was in the form of written essay test questions for students with a structured problem model, each question was given a score and the scores achieved by students were used as research data. Data collection with observation techniques. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results of the study showed that the first cycle of class average learning achievement was 58.5%, with category 4 students getting a score of 70, 6 students getting a score of 60, and 10 students getting a score of 45. Overall cycle one has not according to the principle of complete learning. Cycle II as a whole class average became 75.5. With a category of 12 students getting a score of 80, 7 students getting a score of 70, and 1 student getting a score of 60. The learning outcomes of students with the application of the PBL learning model in cycle II have reached the KKM with a total of 20 students.
