Abstract

Students’ academic achievement in Social Studies, particularly on the theme of cultural richness, remains low. This condition is influenced by teaching methods and models that do not sufficiently engage students or support deep conceptual understanding. This study aims to implement concept-based learning to improve students’ academic performance through an effective instructional model. The research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection phases. The study involved 25 fifth-grade students of SDN 08 Batubara as research subjects. Data were collected through learning achievement tests, classroom observations, and data analysis.The results show that the application of concept-based learning positively impacted students’ achievement in Social Studies. The initial percentage of students who achieved mastery learning was 48%, which increased to 72% in the first cycle and further improved to 88% in the second cycle. Additionally, student engagement in the learning process also increased, as evidenced by activities such as classifying concepts, participating in discussions, and drawing conclusions independently. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Concept Learning model is effective for use in Social Studies instruction, especially in themes that require conceptual mastery, such as cultural diversity. This model also promotes more meaningful and active learning.

Abstract

The subject of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in Grade V at SDN 1 Agung Jaya has shown suboptimal learning outcomes. This is due to the use of conventional teaching methods that are less interactive and do not consider individual student differences. This research aims to improve IPAS academic achievement through the implementation of the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method facilitated by differentiated instruction. The study was conducted using the Classroom Action Research (CAR) model developed by Kemmis and McTaggart, carried out over two cycles. The participants consisted of 15 fifth-grade students. Several data collection techniques were used, including written tests, observation, interviews, and documentation. The written test was used to quantitatively measure learning outcomes, while interviews and documentation supported qualitative findings. The research results demonstrated a significant increase in student scores, with the average rising from 72 in the pre-cycle, to 79 in the first cycle, and 88 in the second cycle. The percentage of students meeting the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) also improved, from 20%, to 60%, and finally to 87%. In addition to academic improvement, students showed enhanced active participation, collaboration, and critical thinking skills throughout the discussion process. Therefore, the integration of the FGD method with differentiated learning proved effective in improving both learning outcomes and student engagement. These findings are expected to serve as a practical reference for teachers in designing more inclusive and adaptive learning at the elementary school level.

Abstract

Riset ini dimaksudkan untuk mengevaluasi keberhasilan penerapan cara penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis kartu dalam meningkatkan prestasi dalam memahami materi dan partisipasi aktif siswa SDN Burno 02 tingkat V pada topik kalimat majemuk sebab-akibat. Materi ini dianggap cukup kompleks karena melibatkan pemahaman terhadap struktur sintaksis dan hubungan logis antar klausa. Untuk itu, dibutuhkan pendekatan belajar yang menghubungkan materi dengan lingkungan sekitar siswa dan menyenangkan agar peserta didik lebih mudah memahami konsep. riset ini menggunakan metode studi Tindakan di kelas Model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang mencakup dua putaran, di mana setiap putaran terdiri atas penyusunan rencana, tindakan, pengamatan, serta tahapan refleksi. Sebanyak 20 siswa kelas lima menjadi partisipan dalam penelitian ini, dan data dikumpulkan melalui tes evaluasi, pengamatan dan dokumentasi, Temuan peneliatian mengindikasi bahwa metode kartu edukatif memberikan kontribusi yang baik dalam meningkatkan capaian belajar peserta didik. Terdapat kenaikan skor rata-rata siswa, yaitu dari 61 sebelum tindakan menjadi 83 setelah pelaksanaan siklus II. Persentase siswa yang mencapai ketuntasan belajar naik dari 40% menjadi 90%. Selain itu, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada keaktifan siswa dalam berdiskusi, bertanya kepada guru, dan menyusun kalimat secara mandiri. Kegiatan belajar menjadi lebih interaktif, menarik, dan selaras dengan kebutuhan dan perkembangan peserta didik jenjang sekolah dasar. Dengan demikian, metode kartu edukatif direkomendasikan sebagai alternatif pendekatan inovatif dan optimal dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di tingkat dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas IV SD melalui penerapan strategi Problem Solving pada materi operasi hitung bilangan. Penelitian dilakukan dalam bentuk Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV SD Negeri Wanajaya II, Kecamatan Kasokandel, Kabupaten Majalengka. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan mencakup tes hasil belajar, observasi aktivitas siswa, serta dokumentasi kegiatan pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi Problem Solving dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar secara signifikan. Pada siklus I, persentase ketuntasan belajar siswa sebesar 68%, lalu meningkat menjadi 88% pada siklus II. Selain itu, keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran pun mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini terlihat dari antusias siswa dalam berdiskusi, serta kemampuan menyelesaikan soal dengan mandiri. Dengan demikian, strategi Problem Solving terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika di tingkat sekolah dasar
