Abstract

A The research aims to determine the effectiveness of discovery learning models assisted by puzzle mind maps on the activities and learning outcomes of the Structure and Function of Animal Tissue Materials. This research was conducted at SMAN 13 Semarang in the Odd Semester Academic Year 2018/2019. This research is a Quasi Experiment study with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population in this research were all students of Class XI MIPA of SMAN 13 Semarang. The sample used was Class XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 which was taken by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the learning outcomes showed that there were no significant differences between the learning outcomes of the control class and the experimental class (sig. ˃ 0.05). Data on student activity obtained by observation and filling in questionnaire sheets showed that 100% of the experimental class students entered very active and active category, while in the control class showed that 89.3% of students entered were very active and active category. This shows that the experimental class is able to surpass the indicator ≥ 90% in the student activity. The conclusion is the application of discovery learning models assisted by puzzle mind map of the Structure and Function of Animal Tissue Materials effectively applied to increase student activity but not to improve learning outcomes.

Abstract

Respiration material is material that is difficult to understand because the material coverage is broad. Learning cannot yet require students to be active and train students to discover concepts independently. The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Mind Mapping on the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students in the respiratory system material, analyze student responses, and analyze teacher responses to the application of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Mind Mapping. This research design is quasi-experimental with a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study was class XI students at SMAN 12 Semarang and the sampling technique was purposive sampling. The sample in this study was students in class XI F-2 (experimental class) and XI F-4 (control class) with 34 students in each class. Student cognitive learning outcomes were measured using test instruments in the form of pretest and posttest questions in multiple choice form, then analyzed using the classical learning mastery test, t-test and N-Gain test. Teacher responses were measured using interview instruments and student responses using a questionnaire sheet. The results of the classical learning completeness test in the experimental class were 100% with the number of students who completed it, while in the control class it was 67.6% with the number of students who completed it as many as 23 people. The results of the t-test analysis on the pretest showed that there were no significant differences between the experimental and control classes, while the t-test analysis on the posttest showed that there were significant differences between the experimental and control classes. The results of the N-Gain test showed that the increase in cognitive learning outcomes in the experimental class was in the high category at 0.77, while the control class was in the medium category at 0.38. The teacher's response to the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Mind Mapping was very good because it was effective in achieving learning outcomes and objectives, student responses showed a positive or good response to the learning carried out. The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Mind Mapping in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class XI students on the respiratory system material and getting a positive response from teachers and students.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the activity of various doses of E. grandiflorus leaf extract on the number of leukocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes and histological features of the spleen in male rats induced by sheep red blood cells (SRBC). 25 rats were divided into 5 groups. The negative control was given 1% Na.CMC, the positive control was given an immunostimulant drug, and the three treatment groups received doses of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, and 400mg/kg. Oral treatment for 7 days. SRBC was injection on the 8th day. On the 13th day termination was carried out. The average leukocyte results were 6.54x103 cells/μL (K−), 6.22x103 cells/μL (K+), 10.8x103 cells/μL (P1), 10.98x103 cells/μL (P2), and 11.2x103 cells/μL (P3). The results of the number of lymphocytes have a percentage of 44% (KN), 50% (KP), 45% (P1), 52% (P2), and 50% (P3). The neutrophil count results were 44.3% (K−), 35% (K+), 37.4% (P1), 30.4% (P2), and 31.9% (P3). The results of the white pulp diameter measurements had an average of 418.0 µm (K-), 440.8 µm (K+), 471.2 µm (P1), 489.8 µm (P2), and 422.0 µm (P3). The averages obtained from germinal center measurements were as follows 252.1 (K-), 225.8 (K+), 212.8 (P1), 216.3 (P2), and 198.4 (P3). ANOVA showed no significant white pulp diameter difference (p > 0.05). In conclusion, the immunostimulatory activity test on rejasa extract on the parameters of leukocytes, neutrophils and lymphocytes had a normal average number. Meanwhile, administration of rejasa extract to the spleen histology have no significant immunostimulating activity.

Abstract

Leptin plays a role in regulating the growth of bones and other body tissues. Leptin can affect the epiphyseal growth zones in long bones, contributing to height growth. The aim of this research is to analyze leptin levels and body height in toddlers before and after giving additional food based on Moringa leaves and sea fish. The supplementary feeding intervention was carried out for 10 weeks on 30 toddlers with stunted and very stunted nutritional status at the Sedan Community Health Center, Rembang Regency. Leptin levels in the blood were analyzed using ELISA, height measurements were carried out using a stadiometer, determination of nutritional status was guided by the PERMENKES regarding 2020 child anthropometry standards, and data analysis used the SPSS program. The results of the study showed that the average leptin level decreased and the average body height increased after the intervention of providing additional food based on Moringa leaves and sea fish. Thus, it can be concluded that decreasing leptin levels can cause a decrease in fat and adipogenesis which results in increased bone formation in the form of increased height in stunted toddlers at the Sedan Community Health Center, Rembang Regency.
