Abstract

This study aimed to describe the results of identification errors made by students in solving compositional  function problems in terms of Watson's theory. The method used in this research was descriptive  qualitative with the research subjects being six students of class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Tengaran. All  the six subjects have three categories, namely high, medium, and low mathematical ability. Error analysis  data for solving compositional function problems were obtained from tests and interviews. The instrument  used was a test in the form of an essay consisting of 4 questions regarding the function of composition.  The result of the study showed that the subject still experienced difficulties in the compositional function  material so that errors occurred in solving compositional function problems. Factors causing the subject  made mistakes because the subject did not repeat the compositional function material so that the subject  could not master the concept and was wrong in applying the formula to solve problems in the form of  compositional functions.
