Abstract

This study proposes an empirical-based human resource (HR) policy framework that depicts the interactions among organizational culture, organizational commitment, and job satisfaction. The study’s framework is designed based on the previous literature. Drawing from the line-of-sight concept, this study posits that organizations’ HR policies should be grounded on the organization’s culture, organizational commitment, and employee’s job satisfaction. These factors help improve organizational performance and achieve the organization’s visions and objectives. This study proposes six hypotheses based on the conceptual framework outlined. The study also elucidates future research directions for management scholars. The findings of this study will benefit organizations’ executives, officers, administrators, human resource managers, and other policy- and decision-makers.

Abstract

Household fire is a societal problem. Much has been known about the causes of fires; however, little is known about the causes of rural fires. This research addresses this gap in the fire-related literature by delineating the causes of household fires in rural areas. Data were drawn from 30 household members who participated in the online interviews. The data gathered were analyzed using a thematic analysis. The results show that the most common causes of rural household fires are incidental fires, electricity, candles, appliances, building materials, human error, and human behavior. The findings of this study may serve as supplements for crafting fire prevention strategies and intervention programs for households in rural areas.

Abstract

The recent pandemic compelled universities and colleges worldwide to provide services different from usual. This change and the increasing competitive intensities demand higher performance levels globally in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). To achieve the desired performance levels, universities and colleges must identify well-performing areas and areas needing improvement. One way to identify these areas is by surveying students’ satisfaction. Many studies have been conducted on student satisfaction in public and private universities worldwide. However, students’ satisfaction with the “new normal” has not been fully explored. This study conceptualizes student satisfaction by developing a framework that integrates the service quality dimensions in the “new normal.” Results, conclusions, and recommendations are discussed.
