Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the students' interest in studying history at SMA Negeri 4 Padangsimpuan. Through online learning, the problem of student interest in learning is a factor that determines the quality of student learning outcomes. This type of research is descriptive quantitative research, with data collection through a questionnaire of students' interest in learning history with a total of 60 students as respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using triangulation in which the percentage results were interpreted in the form of conclusions. The results of this study showed that students' interest in learning history through online learning showed that an average of 57.5% of students had an interest in learning history online and as many as 77.91% of students had an interest in learning face-to-face. This gives the meaning that students' interest in learning history is higher in face-to-face learning than online learning. Students' interest in studying history subjects face-to-face is more enthusiastic.

Abstract

This study aims to produce an increase in student learning activities through the use of mind map learning strategies for class IX-4 students of SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan in the 2021-2022 academic year. The subjects of this study were students of class IX-4 SMP Negeri 8 Padangsidimpuan, totaling 30 people. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR) with the application of a Mind Map. The parameters observed were limited to: student activities during learning, the results of students' psychomotor abilities in making mind maps and student responses to mind map learning activities obtained after learning activities. The data obtained were analyzed by the percentage of value acquisition with descriptive and qualitative descriptive techniques. The results showed that in the first cycle the percentage of all activities was 51.79%, while in the second cycle the percentage of all activities was 72.07%, an increase of 20.28%. The results of the Mind Map assessment in the first cycle showed a percentage value of 69.3% or sufficient. Meanwhile, in Cycle II, the percentage value of 80.3% or good increased by 11% from Cycle I. Student responses to learning with the mind map learning strategy were very positive. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that learning using mind map learning strategies on ecosystem materials in class IX-4 has increased from cycle I to cycle II.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in the ability to understand the concept of fifth grade students of SD Negeri No. 101560 Sihambeng Portibi District. To find out the increase in the ability to understand the concept of fifth grade students at SD Negeri No. 101560 Sihambeng Portibi District on Science Learning on motion material through the experimental method. The subjects were fifth grade students of SD Negeri No. 101560 Sihambeng Portibi District. This type of research is Classroom Action Research. The research design used is the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which includes the stages of planning, implementing actions and observations, as well as reflection. The data collection instruments used were observation sheets, student activity scales, and worksheets. The data analysis technique used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Based on the results of data analysis in the first cycle of the first meeting, it showed an increase in students' understanding of science concepts. The results of the study were the application of learning with experimental methods, training students to be skilled in paying attention to experiments, conducting experiments or experiments, discussing among friends and expressing opinions between friends and teachers, presenting experimental results and asking questions between students and teachers. The application of experimental learning can improve students' understanding of science concepts in learning. The things that support the increase in student activity are teachers are more master of learning with experimental methods on motion material so that they can explain, direct, and guide students well.

Abstract

The conversion of natural forests into agricultural land and monoculture plantations is a major driver of soil biodiversity loss in tropical regions, including Sumatra. Soil microorganisms are essential for nutrient cycling, organic matter decomposition, and soil fertility, yet their responses to land-use change remain insufficiently understood. This study analyzed the diversity and composition of soil microbial communities across four land-use types: natural forest, secondary forest/agroforestry, oil palm monoculture, and intensive agriculture. A quantitative comparative design was applied using 20 topsoil samples (0–20 cm). Microbial communities were characterized through Illumina-based 16S rRNA gene sequencing, followed by bioinformatic analysis in QIIME2 and statistical evaluation using one-way ANOVA and Principal Coordinate Analysis (PCoA). Microbial diversity declined significantly with increasing land-use intensity, with the Shannon index decreasing from 6.42 ± 0.21 in natural forest to 4.67 ± 0.19 in intensive agriculture (F = 18.7; *p* < 0.001). Taxa richness also decreased, accompanied by a shift in dominant phyla from Acidobacteria and Chloroflexi to Proteobacteria and Firmicutes. Soil organic carbon and total nitrogen were positively associated with microbial diversity. These findings demonstrate that land-use intensification reduces soil microbial biodiversity and highlight the importance of conserving natural vegetation and promoting agroforestry to sustain soil ecosystem functions.

Abstract

Peningkatan profesionalisme guru dalam menyelenggarakan pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) menjadi aspek penting untuk menghadapi tuntutan pendidikan abad ke-21 yang berbasis teknologi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memperkuat kompetensi guru di SMP Negeri 4 Angkola Timur dalam mengembangkan bahan ajar IPA interaktif menggunakan aplikasi digital dengan pendekatan model diferensiasi. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif dan kolaboratif melalui enam tahapan sistematis, yakni perencanaan, sosialisasi, pelatihan intensif, implementasi teknologi, pendampingan evaluasi, serta pengembangan berkelanjutan. Fokus materi pelatihan mencakup pemanfaatan aplikasi digital untuk penyusunan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), materi ajar visual, dan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) digital. Evaluasi keberhasilan program diukur menggunakan angket kompetensi guru yang mencakup dimensi pedagogik, kepribadian, sosial, dan profesional. Hasil kegiatan membuktikan bahwa pemanfaatan platform digital secara efektif memberdayakan guru dalam menyusun bahan ajar IPA berbasis diferensiasi. Program ini berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan mitra dalam merancang pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif, adaptif, dan partisipatif, yang berdampak langsung pada peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran di sekolah. Integrasi teknologi interaktif dan model diferensiasi terbukti menjadi solusi strategis dalam optimalisasi kompetensi guru IPA
