Abstract

Noise is a sound whose presence is unwanted that it has an impact on health problems, an uncomfortable environment and can cause deafness. The impact of noise on health can occur in workplace and cause disturbances that are classified in stages. Several studies have found that sudden exposure to sound causes physiological reactions such as pulse, blood pressure, metabolism, sleep disturbances and constriction of blood vessels. The search for research journal articles was obtained from publication media, filtered from inclusion and exclusion criteria and obtained 10 journals to be reviewed. The results of this study are that in all the articles reviewed by the author there is a relationship between long-term noise exposure and human blood glucose levels. Noise exposure led to increased phosphorylation of jnk (c-Jun N-terminal kinase) as well as decreased phosphorylation in skeletal muscle in response to exogenous insulin stimulation, and another result was that plasma levels of TNF-α and IL-6 in skeletal muscle increased after long-term noise exposure. Noise exposure also causes dysregulation of the activity of the hypothalamo-pituitary adrenal axis with high corticosterone, which appears to blunt insulin action in peripheral tissues, consequently limiting glucose uptake and glycogen deposition in the liver and gastrocnemius muscle.

Abstract

Faloak plant is widely used by people in East Nusa Tenggara Province to treat various diseases. The bark of the faloak tree is believed to increase stamina, treat liver dysfunction, ulcers, and typhoid. Often also used to clean the vagina and treat menstrual disorders. Traditional medicine of the faloak plant has been widely used, but there has not been much research and scientific evidence regarding the activity of the faloak plant as a herbal ingredient. The purpose of this literature review is to determine the effect of the faloak plant as an antioxidant. For this reason, a literature search was carried out by searching for articles in research journal databases. From the results of this literature search, it was found that there was significant antioxidant activity in the use of extracts of the bark and roots of Sterculia quadrifida which showed the strongest antioxidant activity compared to leaves, fruits and seeds. The best antioxidant activity was found in 95% ethanol extract for plant bark and 70% ethanol for plant roots. It is because of the identification of the secondary metabolites contained in this plant, including alkaloids, phenols, flavonoids, terpenoids and tannins which are known to act as anti-oxidants

Abstract

Cartilage in the knee of the foot will gradually thin out with age and increase the load on the footstool. The cartilage in the knee is called the meniscus which is useful for protecting the surrounding bones from rubbing against each other when moving. When the meniscus thin and rub against each other will cause pain and the sound of crepitus when walking. Pain is an uncomfortable condition due to physical stimulation that is channeled to the brain followed by physical to emotional reactions. Osteoarthritis is a joint disease that causes decreased joint motion due to pain. This joint disorder most commonly occurs in the knee. Warm ginger compress therapy will make blood vessels widen or open and blood circulation to be smooth. The method of making this literature is in the form of a descriptive approach that looks for various journals or research articles with the same research theme. The results obtained with 10 journals, with the same discussion. Where in several journals get results that are proven to be effective. It can be concluded that warm ginger compresses are effective for reducing pain in osteoarthritis.
