Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan rekrutmen donor menjadi tantangan tersendiri bagi setiap Unit Transfusi Darah (UTD) terutama di masa pandemi. Hampir seluruh UTD mengalami penurunan stok darah. Abstract: Donor recruitment activities are a challenge for each blood transfusion unit (UTD), especially during the pandemic. Almost all UTDs experienced a decrease in blood stock. This is not balanced with the need for blood that remains and even tends to increase. One of the efforts that can be made to attract potential donors is through outreach efforts and voluntary blood donor campaigns. Another effort is to form a blood donor volunteer group. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase the understanding of students of SMKN 2 Malang City about blood donation and is one of the efforts to increase students' awareness to become voluntary blood donors. In addition, this activity aims to provide assistance to voluntary blood donor volunteers through increasing teachers' understanding of the initial selection of donors. This activity was attended by 210 students and 18 teachers. The methods used in providing education are the lecture method and interactive discussion. A paired t-test was used to test for differences in pretest and post-test scores. The pretest and post-test were given, respectively, just before and after the presentation of material on the definition, donor requirements, and benefits of blood donation for students and donor selection for teachers. The mean score of the students' pretest was 76.72 and increased to 91.58 during the post-test (p<0.05). The teacher's mean pretest score was 54.70 and increased to 86.47 at the post-test (p<0.05). This shows that there is an increase in participants' understanding of the definition, terms, benefits, and methods of initial donor selection after being given education. The existence of this community service activity is expected to increase the number of volunteer blood donors among students and to empower volunteer blood donors among teachers.

Abstract

Abstract. Blood availability is highly dependent on the community's willingness and awareness to donate blood voluntarily. Blood Transfusion Unit must engage in donor recruitment activities, such as endeavors to socialize voluntary blood donors, mobilize donors, and retain donors. The formation of a group of volunteer blood donors who will collaborate with Red Cross Indonesian's Voluntary Blood Donor Search and Preservation (P2D2S) officers is an endeavor to recruit potential donors. This community service seeks to empower youth groups as blood donor volunteer groups and recruit prospective blood donor volunteers. The community service activities include the formation of a volunteer blood donor group, outreach and education to juvenile organizations, and blood donation. Abstract

The Indonesian Red Cross is responsible for the distribution of blood products to hospital blood banks. The daily blood distribution route will vary due to the fact that the number of blood requests and the number of hospital blood banks vary on a daily basis. The implementation of a cold chain system is one method of optimizing blood distribution and transportation activities. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the temperature and quality of PRC components in relation to their delivery time and distance. This research method is quantitative-descriptive. The population of this study consisted of all blood that was donated to the hospital blood bank in Sidoarjo Regency between October and November 2022. The blood sample used in this study was collected from the UDD PMI Sidoarjo Regency. The sampling technique of accidental sampling would be employed to visually identify the quality of PRC and temperature. The results of this study indicated that 460 PRC bags were delivered to three hospital blood banks in the UDD PMI Sidoarjo Regency. The PRC did not experience lysis, and 50 bags (10.86%) of the 460 PRC bags experienced a temperature change of over 10 °C. Conclusion: The temperature of the dropped PRC components is influenced by the delivery time and distance. The SOP must be strictly adhered to by all officers who distribute and transport blood to guarantee that the quality of the blood remains in good condition.

Abstract

Transmission of infectious diseases is one of the risks in the blood transfusion process. The Blood Donor Unit (UDD), as a blood provider institution, must ensure that blood products distributed in the community are safe, especially from infectious diseases that can be transmitted through blood transfusion (TTI). UDD PMI Surabaya is a first-class UDD and CPOB-certified facility that serves blood needs not only in East Java but also as a reference for the Eastern Indonesia region. The location of UDD is in a big city, the number of donors is quite large, the coverage of the area of origin of donors and the target users of blood products is quite broad, and a complete screening test method are interesting factors to study regarding the prevalence of TTI disease. This study aims to determine the prevalence of infectious diseases transmitted through blood transfusion among blood donors in UDD PMI Surabaya in 2018–2022, as well as the sociodemographic characteristics of reactive donors. This research is a retrospective, descriptive study. Data for 2018–2022 comes from the in UDD PMI Surabaya database with total number of 639580 blood donors. The research results show that hepatitis B is a TTI disease with the highest prevalence compared to other TTI diseases. Most donors come from the 17–30 year age group who have reactive TTI test results, and this decreases with increasing age except for hepatitis B. Reactive donors are more dominated by women than men, except for HIV disease.
