Abstract

Background: Prediabetes is the stage of tolerance between normal glucose and diabetes which is characterized impairment fasting glucose. Prediabetes is an important concern because it increases the risk of diabetes mellitus. Waist-to-height ratio and physical activity is an indicator related to the risk of prediabetes that needs to be studied. Objective: Analyze waist-to-height ratio and physical activity with the risk of prediabetes in adolescents in Jambi City. Methods: a cross-sectional analytic observational study was conducted at SMAN 2 Jambi City in August – September 2019. The subjects were 140 people, the subject was taken by purposive sampling. Waist-to-height ratio data was taken using a metlitmeter and microtoise, physical activity data using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQ-SF). Prediabetes data with fasting blood glucose examination biosystem method using a spectrophotometer biochemical analyzer AE-600N at a wavelength (λ) 500 nm. Data analysis with chi-square and multiple logistic regression. Results: the relationship between waist-to-height ratio (p=0.05; OR=2.615; CI=1.076 – 6.357) and physical activity (p=0.02; OR; 4.380; CI; 1.237 – 5.502) with the risk of prediabetes. physical activity <600 METs-minute/week had 5 times the risk of prediabetes (p=0.02) after being corrected for variables such as waist circumference, height, carbohydrate intake, and total fat. Conclusion: physical activity <600 Mets-minute/week risk factor for prediabetes

This study aims to analyze the effect of nutrition education based on the SIMPATIK website on mothers' knowledge and diversity of toddler consumption in Jambi City. The study used a Quasy Experimental design in a pre-post test only, with 60 mothers of toddlers as subjects in the working area of the Tahtul Yaman Public Health Center in 2022. Were collection used a questionnaire, interviews and assistance using the SIMPATIK. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test at 95% CI. The results of the study, the SIMPATIK website on the nutritional knowledge of toddler mothers (p= 0,000; = 2,18), and diversity of food consumption (p= 0,000; = 0,99). In conclusion, SIMPATIK increased the nutritional knowledge of mothers of toddlers and the variety of toddlers' consumption in Jambi City. The SIMPATIK website can be used as a tool for nutrition education in the community.

Abstract

AbstrakLatar Belakang. Analisis multivariat menunjukan umur ibu (OR=3,59; p=0.009), dan pendidikan ibu (OR=3.25; p=0,016) berpengaruh terhadap pola asuh ibu. Kesimpulan. Kartu Aksi Gizi meningkatkan pola asuh ibu balita.

Abstract

Hasil: uji statistik chi-square perilaku konsumsi karbohidrat >300 – 400 g/hari (p=0,009; OR=4,058) dan perilaku konsumsi minuman manis >12g/hari (p=0,01; OR 4,333) memiliki risiko kejadian prediabetes. Regresi logistik ganda konsumsi minuman manis 4,2 kali risiko prediabetes remaja (p=0,018). Kesimpulan: konsumsi minuman manis merupakan faktor dominan risiko prediabetes remaja.

Abstract

Prediabetes is an intermediate stage of impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). If left unresolved for 3-5 years, it can significantly increase the risk of developing diabetes mellitus. Body mass index (BMI) for age score (BAZ) is a key indicator of lifestyle choices that influence the risk of prediabetes. Objective: To investigate the interaction between BAZ and fasting blood glucose as a prediabetes indicator. The methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted at Senior High School 2 in Jambi City in 2019. A total of 140 participants aged 15-18 years were included, meeting criteria such as parental/guardian consent, willingness to participate, and fasting from 11 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Independent variables included a family history of diabetes mellitus, family history of obesity, consumption of carbohydrates, fats, sugary drinks, waist-to-height ratio, physical activity, and BMI. The dependent variable, prediabetes, was measured using fasting blood glucose with a spectrophotometer biochemical analyzer AE-600N at a wavelength of 500 nm. Data were analyzed using the chi-squared test and multiple logistic regression analysis, The results showed a significant interaction between BMI and prediabetes (p=0,026; OR=4,34) after confounding factor analysis of family history of diabetes (p=0,050; OR=3,00), physical activity (p=0,020; OR=5,012), and sugar-sweetened beverages (p=0,018; OR=4,21), even after adjusting for other independent variables. In conclusion, BAZ > 1 SD was the dominant factor associated with an increased risk of prediabetes.
