Abstract

This study examines the analysis of novels with a structural approach that aims to (1) analyze the structure in the form of intrinsic elements that build the novel Bumi by Tere Liye and (2) categorize and describe the types of Bumi novels by Tere Liye, which focuses on the types of fantasy novels. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with the data collection method, which is the first step in carrying out the observation method, followed by the reading and recording method. The source of the research data is in the form of data taken from the novel Bumi by Tere Liye. Furthermore, the data analysis method used is the flow model of analysis including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research conducted showed that the novel Bumi by Tere Liye has a complete structure and intertwining between intrinsic elements including theme, plot, characterization, setting, point of view, and language style that characterizes the author in the novel. The story in this novel is easy to understand because it uses an advanced or progressive plot by going through several stages, namely the initial stage (introduction), the conflict emergence stage, the complication stage, the climax stage, the resolution stage (problem solving), and the final stage. Characterization consisting of the protagonist and the antagonist. The setting used in this novel is also divided into a place setting, a time setting, and an atmosphere setting. The point of view used is the single first-person point of view as the main culprit. In addition, the type of Earth novels is included in the type of fantasy novels that are imaginative and imaginary of an author.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the style of language used by Tere Liye in the novel About You and to explain the dominant style of language used by Tere Liye in the novel About You. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that discusses language style. Data collection methods in this study are documentation, reading, recording, and selecting data. The steps in analyzing the data are, (1) reading in depth the novel About You by Tere Liye to find out the contents as a whole, (2) understanding the contents of the novel based one language style, (3) recording data in the form of words, sentences, expression, and statements related to language style, (4) date are grouped based on research problems, (5) describe the style of the novel in the novel About You by Tere liye, (6) analyze the style of the novel in the novel About You by Tee Liye, and (7) make conclusions about the analysis of literary works in novels. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the novel About You uses several language style, namely (1) comparative language style includes Juperbola, metonomia, simile and association, (2) repetition language style includes mesodiploss and anaphora. (3) the language style of opposition includes antithesis, and (4) the language style of affirmation includes epiphora. The dominant language style used in the novel About You is anaphora.

Abstract

This study examines the analysis of pragmatics seen from the aspect of speech acts. The purpose of this research is to find out the speech acts based on Austin's theory which in Austin's theory there are three speech acts namely locution, illocution and perlocution in the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan by Agnes Davonar. In this research, data collection method is used, namely observation method, reading method, and note-taking method. The data analysis method used in this research is by reducing data, presenting data, verifying data, and concluding data. The results obtained in the research of speech acts in the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan by Agnes Davonar are forty-seven utterances including nineteen locutionary speech acts, namely fifteen statement locutions, two question locutions and two command locutions. In illocutionary speech acts there are eighteen utterances including two representative illocutions, two commissive illocutions, eight directive illocutions, five expressive illocutions and one declarative illocution. Then, in perlocutionary speech acts there are ten numbers of utterances. The factors that cause the occurrence of speech acts in the novel Surat Kecil Untuk Tuhan by Agnes Davonar are telling something informative, conveying criticism or satire, honesty or insistence, conveying prohibition.

Abstract

This research is a classroom action research (PTK) which aims to 1) test the effectiveness of the brainwriting method in improving the writing skills of exposition texts in class X MM students at SMK Negeri 6 Denpasar; 2) Knowing the steps of the brainwriting method in improving the skills of writing exposition texts in class X MM students at SMK Negeri 6 Denpasar; 3) Knowing the student's response after applying the brainwriting method. Data collection was carried out using observation, tests andquestionnaires. The data that has been obtained was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive technique. The research results obtained showed that after applying the brainwriting method there was an increase in the skills of writing exposition texts in class X MM students at SMK Negeri 6 Denpasar. The improvement in writing skills of exposition texts can be seen from the results of the students' average scores obtained in the first cycle test, which was 74.88 and increased in the second cycle, which was 82.43. The level of application of the brainwriting method has obtained maximum results. The results of the student response questionnaire that the brainwriting method can improve learning achievement. This can be seen from the ability of students who are more confident to express ideas, thoughts and opinions better.

Abstract

Classroom action research (CAR) in class XI aims to improve students' critical thinking in MA by implementing a problem-based learning model in speaking skills.Ruhul Amin Lamon's academic year is 2022-2023.MA applied to Class XIRuhul Amin Lamongan The data in this study were obtained using observation and tests to observe students' speaking abilities. The data that has been collected was analyzed using descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative methods. Based on the research results, this PTK was carried out in two cycles, showing that speaking skills could improve students' critical thinking skills. This can be seen from the average student's speaking skills score in the initial test of 4.14 in the lower category. Cycle I was 5.6 with an almost sufficient category, but in the application to the pre-cycle and cycle I, there were still weaknesses that occurred in the learning process, namely, the student's lack of seriousness in reading the text given, while the alternative solution was given, namely, creating a new, pleasant atmosphere. Based on this solution, there was an increase of 2.22, so in cycle II the average score obtained by students was 7.82 in the "good"
