Abstract

According to data from Each year, there are 12.2 million new strokes worldwide, and 101 million people live with a stroke after it. One in four people will have a stroke in their lifetime, a rate that has increased by 50% over the past 17 years. The World Stroke Organization (WSO) in 2022 is the only global body that focuses solely on stroke. Comprehensive efforts to manage stroke risk factors in the community should be pursued. Understanding stroke prevention and detection is very helpful in minimizing the effects of stroke. Health education about early detection of stroke using the FAST method is given to the elderly who have a high risk of stroke. Early detection of stroke using the FAST (Face drooping Arm Weakness Speech difficulty, Time to call doctor/hospital) method can be a solution to knowledge in an effort to prevent the impact of stroke. The activity, which was attended by 50 elderly people, ran smoothly and enthusiastically. The results of the evaluation revealed that there was a significant increase in good knowledge from 6% to 74%.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of healthcare service quality, one of which is influenced by waiting time. Initial observation showed that the waiting time in the general polyclinic was still long, around 90–120 minutes. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between waiting time and patient satisfaction in outpatient installations. We conducted an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The population was 100 outpatients at Dr. Oen Hospital, Solo Baru, who visited in 2024. Using a purposive sampling technique, a sample of 64 patients was taken. There were two main variables studied, namely waiting time (measured by an observation sheet) and patient satisfaction (measured by a questionnaire). Data were analyzed using chi-square test. Most patients (79.7%) waited > 60 minutes with an average of 74.98 minutes, but 71.9% were still very satisfied. The chi-square analysis showed no significant relationship between waiting time and patient satisfaction (p = 0.399). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the length of waiting time for registration does not affect patient satisfaction in outpatient installations. However, it is still recommended that the hospital continue to strive to reduce patient waiting time so that service capacity increases.

Abstract

Background: Certain training programs, like Basic Life Support training, must change to comply with the new social and physical distancing policies. Health care workers, including nursing students, may benefit from Virtual Simulation, instruction, in order to help them meet the Basic Life Suppport competencies. Therefore, innovation in learning methods through virtual simulation is needed to provide interactive and realistic learning experiences, as well as to enhance students’ knowledge, clinical skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence before entering clinical practice." Objectives: To examine the effectiveness of virtual simulation as a learning approach for Basic Life Support among nursing students. Methods: The literature search was conducted across several databases, including Google Scholar, databases including ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and PubMed, covering studies published between 2019 and 2023. A total of 4,725 articles were initially identified. After title screening (N = 2,310) and abstract evaluation (n = 703), 75 full-text articles were reviewed. Finally, 15 studies that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed. Both English and Indonesian language publications were considered, following the PRISMA guidelines. Results: Demonstrates the emergence of a new virtual simulation learning model that is combined with video-based instruction. During the course of the eight-hour intervention up to two weeks, several indicators of improvement were noted, including resiliency, self-efficacy, understanding, attitudes, skills, and ability to perform resuscitation. In addition, three articles with statistically significant results indicate that the mixed model is more effective when combined with e-learning websites and computer-based simulations. Three articles discuss that, out of the four blended learning models, the most effective parameter is the understanding capacity. Conclusion: This indicates that BLS training should utilise a virtual simulation learning model that takes infrastructure, facilities and training modules into consideration.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic health problem commonly experienced by the elderly and is a major cause of cardiovascular disease. This community service activity aimed to improve elderly knowledge about hypertension management through non-pharmacological therapy in Soko Bogor, Cawas, Klaten, Central Java. The implementation methods included preparation, education, training, and evaluation stages. The intervention consisted of education on a healthy diet, physical activity, stress management, and the practice of relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and finger-hold therapy. Knowledge assessment was conducted before and after the intervention using questionnaires. The results showed a significant improvement in knowledge levels, where the “good” category increased from 10% to 70%, while the “poor” category decreased from 55% to 0%. Most participants were female (90%), indicating higher participation among women compared to men. This activity effectively enhanced the elderly’s understanding of hypertension control through non-pharmacological approaches. However, continued assistance is needed to ensure that increased knowledge translates into sustainable behavioral changes.
