This article aims to demonstrate the application of a community-care approach in the provisioning of elderly social and health care services (hereafter, social-health care) through a case study at Elderly Family Development (Bina Keluarga Lansia–BKL) Mugi Waras in Sumbersari Village, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province. This institution was chosen as a case study since it represents the best community-based long-term social-health care institution for the elderly in Indonesia. Based on the findings that have been analyzed, it was concluded that there has been shifting of institutional care provision in the community care regime towards more inclusion with mixed welfare features. This may have occurred because BKL was suffering from the lack of resources they have in dealing with the increased needs of the elderly and increased risk. Consequently, even though the influence of external stakeholders in this initiative appears quite strong, such a community-centered care initiative can be continually maintained and resulted in the hybridization model of a care regime. For social worker’s practitioner insight, the paradigm of program implementation in the BKL Mugi Waras can be adopted as a community-based social work practice that appears to fit developing countries, where elderly service intervention should be fine-tuned to the elderly residents’ living arrangements.

The purpose of this article is to look into the functions of community in running capitalism at the micro-level through Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), as well as the effects on the collective well-being of the members. The concept of community-welfare capitalism is used and re-examined in this article. The term “community-welfare capitalism” refers to a form of capitalism that stems from grassroots communities in Indonesia and other Asian countries. Based on our empirical findings on three MSMEs in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, it is argued that, while the majority of works of literature emphasizes the importance of the community in providing informal social protection, our findings confirm that the community's role extends beyond social care to include economic security through collaborative business development. Because Indonesia is currently struggling to achieve inclusive welfare, our conclusion of community-welfare capitalism emphasizes the importance of informal support for social redistribution. As a result, it has been demonstrated that the community-welfare capitalism system, which includes MSMEs, can assist formal welfare institutions in integrating unabsorbed social risk during these difficult times.

This article discusses the outlook for the Indonesian welfare regime using citizenship as a framework. I argue that the transformation of the Indonesian welfare regime from productivist characteristics to universalism has been disrupted by the discourse of communitarian and market citizenship that have become dependent on the welfare configuration path in contemporary Indonesia. This circumstance has become an endogenous factor that obstructs innovation and change within an administrative body of universal social protection. Using evidence from Indonesian experiences, this article can help develop a further understanding of the complexity of relationships between welfare provision and citizenship in the context of developing countries.

Kata kunci: process tracing, penelusuran proses, causal mechanism, metodologi Abstract Process tracing has gained popularity as a method for testing and developing theories related to cause-and-effect in social reality. However, what exactly is process tracing, and how can it be utilized in empirical research? This article addresses these questions by first summarizing the current state-of-the-art process-tracing methods, distinguishing them from conventional qualitative research approaches, and demonstrating how researchers can apply these methods within deductive and inductive research designs. Additionally, the article discusses the ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations of process tracing, situating it within a neo-positivist framework rather than an interpretive one. Our analysis suggests that process tracing offers several advantages for process-oriented research: it enables the development of more convincing causal explanations, organizes data into structured narratives, and regularly and accurately evaluates the relevance of theories to social reality. This article serves as the first comprehensive guide in the Bahasa for social and political sciences students, providing them with the understanding and tools necessary to apply the process tracing method in their research effectively.
