Abstract

Many studies have been written about students’ academic procrastination. Yet, not many wrote specifically about EFL context. This study tried to fill the gap, especially in Indonesian context where English is officially taught as a foreign language. The study aims to examine the level of EFL students’ academic procrastination; the reasons of doing the procrastination; and the correlation of students’ procrastination level with their academic achievement especially for reading and writing skill. It was conducted by applying quantitative approach with descriptive quantitative and correlation research design. A hundred and eighty seventh semester students of a State Islamic University in Indonesia was the population for this study, while 35 students of which were chosen randomly as the samples. A five-scale questionnaire was applied to collect the data, and then the result was analyzed quantitatively by using descriptive and Spearman formula on SPPS 26. The findings showed that the students’ level of procrastination was moderate; the students inclined doing the procrastination in the area of sincerity and aversiveness of task; and there was no significant correlation between procrastination and writing as well as reading achievement.

Abstract

English for Foreign Language (EFL) teachers do not always recognize students’ speaking anxiety. Meanwhile, a set of studies revealed that there was no significant difference of male and female’s students’ speaking anxiety level. In fact, male and female students have difference condition on their learning style as well as psychological performance. This study aims to examine how difference male and female EFL students’ speaking anxiety in a different context, in which the exposure was taken under the students’ performance on reciting poetry through Youtube for their Creative Writing class. It is a quantitative study with causal-comparative research design. It was carried out to 64 students fifth semester EFL students majoring in English Language Teaching (ELT) in a state Islamic University in Jember, selected by using purposive random sampling. The data were collected by using a modified questionnaire consists of 21 items of Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) which was originally developed by Horwit et.al. (1986). The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 24 with Mann Whitney formula computation. The results indicated that there was no significant difference between male and female speaking anxiety through their poetry performance (Sig 2 tailed 0.657 > 0.05). The mean and median scores of both also showed that they were not significantly different one into another with most samples on moderate level. The findings of this study might be used as input to further researchers to examine factors affecting speaking anxiety on male and female students.

Abstract

Anxiety is a state of worry, nervousness or fear, when faced with a difficult situation and thinks something bad will happen to him. Self Efficacy with Social Anxiety are two things that have a mutual relationship, where a belief obtained from previous experiences provides an evaluation of himself in dealing with social situations and performance. Anxiety is also experienced by overseas students of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember. Based on the survey results, anxiety is a problem for overseas students of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember. The formulation of the problem in this study is first, how much self efficacy do overseas students of UIN KHAS Jember have? Second, how much social anxiety do overseas students of UIN KHAS Jember have? Third, is there a relationship between self efficacy and social anxiety in overseas students of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember? The research method used is correlational research. The sampling technique used purposive random sampling with a total sample of 240 samples obtained from questionnaire data, data validity uses validity & reliability tests. The answer to each instrument item uses a Likert scale.  The analysis method used is normality test, linearity test, and Pearson correlation test. The first result shows that overseas students of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember who have moderate self efficacy are more than students who have low self efficacy. Meanwhile, overseas students who have moderate levels of social anxiety are more than overseas students who have low social anxiety. The third result shows a correlation coefficient of -0.259 with sig. 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning that there is a significant negative relationship between self efficacy and social anxiety in overseas students of Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq Jember.

Abstract

This research aims to deepen and analyze the various types of ecological application models to maintain mental health in society. Ecology has a role not only in biological health but also in mental health in humans. This research method uses a qualitative research approach. LR (Literature Review) with primary source data, namely research articles for the period 2021-2025, the data collection technique uses the application Publish or Perish by using keywords "ekologi"dan"Kesehatan mental", then the researcher went deeper to discuss it further and found 7 research articles. The results of research on various models of applying ecology that can help a person's mental health are: providing a green concept in sports venues, gardening, creating city parks, creating recreational areas with a concept of lots of plants, providing an understanding of healthy city planning to children, planting trees, and counseling activities for playing in nature in educational institutions. The benefit of this research is that the wider community is able to maintain ecology well because the role of ecology in humans, especially, is an important role in maintaining a person's mental health, in addition to that, with the development of the times, plants are starting to be replaced by industrial plants so that it is very important to maintain the plant ecosystem so that the environment remains stable.

Abstract

Abstrak Melalui buku Plato yang berjudul Politeia dan karya Aristoteles yang juga berjudul Politeia dapat diketahui bahwa politik merupakan istilah yang dipergunakan untuk konsep pengaturan masyarakat. Hal ini disebabkan hal yang dibahas dalam kedua buku tersebut adalah soal-soal yang berkenaan dengan masalah bagaimana pemerintahan dijalankan agar terwujud sebuah masyarakat atau negara yang baik. Politik diartikan mengurus, mengatur kepentingan seseorang. Politik dalam Islam berpegang teguh sesuai dengan Al-qur’an, sumber dari segala sumber pengetahuan dalam Islam. Politik di Indonesia sempat menganut sistem khilafah yang pernah dijalankan semasa zaman Rasulullah. Korupsi adalah masalah politik yang sangat besar di Indonesia. Indonesia adalah perigkat pertama dengan kasus korupsi terbanyak se-Asia. Korupsi di dalam Islam dilarang atau haram hukumnya. Kata Kunci: Korupsi; Politik Islam

Abstract

Abstrak Lembaga pendidikan menurut pengertiannya adalah segala sesuatu yang dapat digunakan sebagai ‘tempat’ atau ‘wadah’ terjadinya proses belajar dalam arti proses perubahan dari sesuatu yang tidak atau kurang baik menjadi lebih baik. Pendidikan di masa klasik ini adalah semenjak adanya komunitas pendidikan dalam skala kecil, dengan identitas tradisi dan kepercayaan rakyat disitu. Seperti, pesantren dan padepokan. Lembaga-lembaga pendidikan masa klasik pra madrasah: 1. shuffah, 2. kuttab/ maktab, 3. halaqah,4. masjid, 5. khan, 6. ribath, 7. toko-toko buku dan perpustakaan, 8. rumah sakit, 9. badiah. Pendidikan kontemporer pada orde baru di Indonesia, yaitu: 1. tujuan pendidikan nasional berdasarkan pancasila, 2. pendidikan pancasila, 3. mutu dan relevansi pendidikan diarahkan pada usaha, 4. pendidikan tidak hanya dilakukan di sekolah namun juga dilakukan di keluarga dan masyarakat, 5. perluasan pendidikan dalam rangka untuk memperoleh didalam dan diluar sekolah, 6. pengembangan tenaga kependidikan, 7. pembagunan gedung-gedung sekolah, 8. pendidikan dan pengajaran bahasa indonesia, 9. pembinaan kepustakaan dan penerbitan, 10. pendidikan kejuruan dan keterampilan, 11. perguruan tinggi sungguh-sunggguh sebagai lembaga ilmiah, 12. pembinaan perguruan swasta, 13. pendidikan masyarakat diarahkan agar setiap anggota masyarakat sedini mungkin, 14. pendidikan jasmani dan olahraga.
