Abstract

The philanthropic tradition is one of the recommended acts of worship in Islam which is part of the pillar of Islam, zakat. However, it turns out that this tradition also developed in other religions and became interesting to learn. The purpose of this study is to describe qualitatively about philanthropic traditions in the teachings of major religions in the middle east, namely Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Descriptive qualitative method (using content analysis techniques) is a type of literature research through books, journals and other relevant sources used in this research. That the religions of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity each have concepts and practices regarding philanthropy as a result of this research. Jews have a concept of charity that is practiced with Tzedakah activities for the poor. Islamic teachings have a philanthropic concept in the form of Islamic zakat pillars which are also practiced in the form of zakat, Infaq / alms, and Waqf. Christianity has a philanthropic concept in the form of compassion for the poor which is practiced by giving tithes and year-end offerings.

Abstract

Waqf, as an instrument of Islamic philanthropy, has great potential to play a strategic role for the Indonesian economy. The Covid-19 pandemic as a global pandemic has had an impact on various sectors in Indonesia. National Economic Recovery (PEN) is a government program in an effort to restore post-pandemic economic conditions in 6 sectors, namely Health, Social Protection, Business Incentives, MSME Support, Corporate Financing, and Local Government and Corporate Sectors. This study describes the role of waqf in helping the national economic recovery (PEN) in the six sectors. A qualitative research approach is used as this research method with documentary data collection techniques. Data sources in this study refer to texts derived from books, journals, and publications from related sources. The results of this study show that waqf, in various schemes, plays a role in assisting the PEN program in 6 sectors. In the health sector, waqf is implemented in the form of health facilities and services programs. In the Social Protection sector, waqf is implemented in the form of basic food and cash social assistance. In the field of Business Incentives, waqf is manifested in the form of a waqf nazir stimulus. In the field of MSME Support, waqf is implemented in capital assistance, production equipment, and assistance. In the field of Corporate Financing, waqf plays a role in storing funds in the waqf sukuk scheme / CWLS (SWR). In the field of Local Government and Corporation, waqf is implemented in the management of halal tourism and waqf cities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify past research trends on Islamic spending, evaluate research collaborative relationships, and identify future research directions.It uses 14 articles published between 2003-2022 about Islamic Expenditures indexed in Scopus (Q1-Q4) using a qualitative and quantitative approach, the Bibliometric method and Systematic Literature Review (SLR). This study uses VosViewers software and Publish or Perish. It is known that the author who has the most publications on Islamic Expenditure is U.H. Umar. The article with the most citations was the article entitled "A proposed model for waqf financing public goods and mixed public goods in Malaysia". The journal with the largest number of publications is the International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management. The countries that contributed the most to the release were Malaysia, Nigeria and Pakistan. This study makes several contributions, including for future researchers, the research results can be used as a reference to identify influential authors, articles, journals, countries, findings and methods. For researchers, the results of this study can be used as a benchmark and literature necessary for the development of Shariah consumer research and to reassess the gaps in Islamic cost or cost research.
