Abstract

Floods often occur due to river water overflowing to the surface. Flooding can also be caused by land development which increases surface runoff and impacts the drainage system. This can cause a decrease in the performance of the drainage channel. This research aims to map floods caused by runoff from the Gadjah Putih River, and the performance of existing drainage channels in RW 14 Sumber, Banjarsari, Surakarta. The rain data used is rain data from the Pabelan, Mojolaban, and Baki rain stations from 2000 to 2019. The Gumbel method is used to analyze rain return periods, runoff discharge analyzed by using Rational Method. Runoff discharge is explained at return periods of 2, 5, and 10 years, producing discharges of 8.15 m3/s respectively; 9.76 m3/day; and 10.61 m3/day. Floods are mapped using HEC-RAS by conducting steady flow analysis. The results of the flood mapping of the Gadjah Putih River showed that the area that experienced flooding at the return period of 2, 5 and 10 years respectively was 50,326.77 m2; 56,865.37 m2; 60,756.82 m2. Drainage performance analysis compares hydrology and hydraulic calculations. The analysis resulted drainage performance in RW 14 Sumber show that at the 2 year discharge period, 34 types of channels are safe, and 11 types of channels require repair; in the 5 year discharge period, 30 types of channels are safe, and 15 types of channels require repair; at the 10 year discharge period, 25 types of channels are safe, and 20 types of channels require repair.

Abstract

Abstract

Character Building of Streetscape through Buildings, Pedestrians and Public Art in the R.E. Martadinata Corridor, SurakartaA visual study of the streetscape character of Jalan R.E. Martadinata examines how this main commercial corridor in the Pasar Gede Surakarta area shapes spatial experience through its visual elements. Using a qualitative case study approach, the analysis focused on buildings, roads, sidewalks, urban elements, and public art. Results show the corridor's visual character is formed by the continuity of two-story shop house facades, where approximately 50–55% of second-floor facades retain their original form, creating strong visual rhythm. Conversely, ground floors have undergone intensive commercial modifications, producing heterogeneous visual variations. Sidewalks function as active visual spaces, particularly after the 2012 revitalization introducing 12 Chinese zodiac motifs and Javanese roof symbols. Public art—including lanterns, coin ornaments, and festival decorations—serves as marker elements reinforcing area identity. Overall, the streetscape's visual character results from interactions between tradition, modernization, and cultural expression.

Abstract

Semiotic architecture is a bridge between architects and users who convey architectural information. The application of semiotic architecture to street art gallery buildings can be used as street art introduction images to users. Unfortunately, there is no research on the relationship between semiotic architecture and street art that can be used as design criteria parameters. Therefore, the urgency of this research is to find out which components of semiotic architecture are most suitable for the identity of street art galleries. The method of this research is studying the characteristics of street art and then analyzing it with three semiotic architectural theories from Yousafi, Uluğ and Huang & Zhou. This research produces the design criteria of a street art gallery, namely the use of polychromatic colors, the use of dominant walls, designing space without partitions, materials that give the impression of a street, and incorporating public street art interaction content.

Abstract

Integration of Agrotourism Mapping and Community Based Landslide Disaster Mitigation in Anggrasmanis Village, Karanganyar. Anggrasmanis Village has the potential to become a tourist village with a variety of destinations, ranging from religious tourism to nature tourism to educational tourism. Its location in Karanganyar Regency, with its fertile soil, adds to the opportunities for regional development in agrotourism management. On the other hand, the steep topography and high rainfall intensity cause some areas to be prone to landslides, despite mitigation efforts that have been made. In fact, the largest landslide disaster in Karanganyar Regency occurred in 2007, claiming 58 lives. Based on this background, community service activities in Anggrasmanis Village, Karanganyar Regency, aim to map areas with tourism potential and identify landslide prone areas to support sustainable development planning. The methods used include field surveys, spatial analysis, and participatory mapping involving the community, village officials, and volunteers from Anggrasmanis Village. The mapping was carried out using editing applications such as CorelDraw, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. The optimization of map use was also carried out using barcode scanning technology, which aims to make it easier for the community to gather information independently through cell phone layers. The results of this activity are thematic maps showing the locations of agrotourism sites and landslide prone zones. The thematic maps are expected to be used by local governments, tourism operators, and the community to make informed decisions and serve as a basis for developing sustainable agrotourism in Anggrasmanis Village.

Abstract

Empowering the Trengguli Village Community Through Socialization of Landslide Disaster Mitigation and Reforestation. Efforts to empower the Trengguli Village Community, through the Landslide Disaster Mitigation Socialization work program, and also Reforestation as a concrete step in this socialization are programs designed and implemented with the aim of supporting Trengguli Village to become a landslide disaster response village. This program is included in the preventive program, where the program will help prevent landslides, and also help reduce the risks that occur due to landslides. This program not only involves KKN students from Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, but also involves all elements of the village, starting from related village officials, and also support assistance from the Trengguli Village Community. It also involves a third party, namely the Solo River Basin Management Agency (BPDAS), as a party that helps provide plant seeds to be planted in areas prone to landslides. The implementation of these 2 programs is mutually sustainable and also related, by carrying out several stages of activities including: (1) Socialization activities for landslide disaster mitigation;(2) Determining and describing the location of areas prone to landslides; (3) Survey of landslide-prone locations as well as planting locations; (4) Replanting or reforestation in landslideprone areas in Trengguli Village. From the program that has been designed and implemented, the result is that the Trengguli Village Community has gained additional insight into landslide disaster mitigation from the socialization program, and the community can also convey their ideas or understanding about activities that can be carried out to help prevent landslides by filling out questionnaires. And the next thing is the planting of 100 plant seeds at several points in the landslide-prone areas of Trengguli Village, which it is hoped will be useful in preventing landslides, and is expected to inspire the enthusiasm of the Trengguli Village community to be able to continue these activities.
