Abstract

The intense need for breast milk by the baby makes the mother have to be extra in initiating breastfeeding, especially for her first life. However, many mothers are unable to give breast milk because breast milk is not smooth and there are various obstacles so that mothers do not give breast milk to their babies. The impact if the baby does not get breast milk is that the baby will be susceptible to disease (both child and mother). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of oxytocin massage therapy on the smooth production of breast milk at the Inpatient Midwifery Installation of RSI Ibnu Sina Padang in 2023. This research method is a type of Quasy experimental design. This research takes the type of one group pretest and posttest design. Where the experimental group was given a pre test before being given a treatment which was then measured by a post test. The sample in this study were 19 people. Collecting data using a research instrument, namely the observation sheet. The results of the study from 19 respondents obtained the average value before (2.47cc) after the oxytocin massage (22.58cc) with a p value of 0.000. The results of the t-test statistical test obtained a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) so it can be concluded that there is an effect of oxytocin massage on increasing breast milk production. It was concluded that there was an effect of oxytocin massage on the smooth production of breast milk production in the Midwifery Inpatient Installation of RSI Ibnu Sina Padang in 2023. It is hoped that this research can be used as a therapy to increase milk production for breastfeeding mothers. oxytocin in patients whose milk production is reduced.
