Abstract

Sugar cane is the main commodity in Indonesia as a raw material for the sugar industry, but it has not yet been developed into other products. Ant sugar is a processed product of sugar cane juice that has a lower glycemic index than regular sugar and has the potential to increase the income of sugarcane farmers. Currently, there is no research that examines the differences in the quality of ant sugar produced from sugarcane with different varieties, so this study aims to analyze the quality of cane sugar produced from three different types of sugarcane, through organoleptic tests so that consumers' tastes can be determined. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three varieties of sugarcane namely Bululawang, BZ 194, and PSDK. The results showed that the varieties of sugarcane plants against ant sugar made from sugarcane juice did not have a significant difference in terms of color, aroma, and texture. The results of the taste of ant sugar have a significant difference so the Bululawang variety is the most preferred variety. The differences in sugarcane varieties give different characteristics to the yield of ant sugar based on the quality content of the sap.

Abstract

Single row and double row are sugarcane planting systems commonly used for cultivating sugarcane. Sugar cane is a tropical plant that is used as raw material for making sugar. Different sugarcane planting systems can cause different growth of sugarcane plants. The aim of this research is to determine the differences in sugarcane plant growth using single row and double row planting systems. This research was carried out using a non-factorial randomized block plan consisting of 2 treatments, namely single row and double row planting systems with 6 blocks in each treatment with a total of 150 plants per treatment. Observational variables included plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of internodes, stem weight per meter and population. The data obtained were analyzed using the t-test using a level of 5%. The results showed that the one-line treatment had a significant effect on the parameters of plant length, number of tillers, stem weight per meter, and population but did not produce significantly different results on the parameters of stem diameter, number of leaves, and number of internodes

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of different doses of agricultural lime (dolomite) on changes in the pH of peat soil used as a growing medium for oil palm seedlings during the main nursery phase. Peat soil generally has a high level of acidity, which can limit the availability of nutrients for plant growth. The experiment was conducted using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five dolomite dosage treatments, namely 0 g (control), 20 g, 50 g, 70 g, and 100 g per polybag, each replicated 12 times. Soil pH observations were carried out daily for 9 days after dolomite application. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level, as well as Pearson Correlation Test to determine the relationship between dolomite dosage and soil pH changes. The results showed that dolomite application significantly increased soil pH. The treatment with 100 g/polybag produced the highest average pH value of 6.46, while the control treatment only reached a pH of 5.73. In addition, a significant positive correlation (r = 0.556) was found between increasing dolomite dosage and soil pH improvement. Therefore, the application of agricultural lime proved effective in increasing and stabilizing peat soil pH, making it more suitable as a growing medium for oil palm nurseries.

Abstract

Sugarcane growth and yield are influenced by the interaction between plant factors, soil conditions, climate, and cultivation practices. Climate is an uncontrollable component, so it is an important aspect that must be carefully considered in sugarcane cultivation activities. Three important variables are rainfall, humidity, and temperature, and to date, research related to the relationship between climate variables and sugarcane growth has not been widely conducted. This study aims to determine the relationship between sugarcane growth and climate conditions (rainfall, humidity, and air temperature). This study used three locations: Magelang, Purworejo, and Kulon Progo, in sugarcane areas with the Bululawang variety and plant age. The observed plant growth variables included stem height, stem diameter, number of leaves, number of stems per clump, and number of sugarcane internodes in each field. Meanwhile, the observed climate variables were rainfall, temperature, and humidity (obtained from BMKG). Data analysis was carried out using descriptive quantitative data and a person correlation test using Excel. The results showed that Magelang had the highest rainfall and Kulon Progo had the lowest rainfall. The air temperature in Purworejo was the highest and Kulon Progo had the lowest. The highest humidity is in Purworejo and the lowest humidity is in Magelang. Rainfall has a significant correlation with sugarcane growth, while temperature and humidity have a correlation but are not significant. Rainfall has a very strong and significant correlation with stem diameter (r = -0.835), number of internodes (r = -0.857), and number of stems per clump (r = -0.897). Air temperature and air humidity have a very low and insignificant correlation with all plant growth variables. This indicates that rainfall is the most important climate factor influencing sugarcane growth.
