<![CDATA[Preaching is a means created by God to communicate His purpose to His people, as the function of the Bible is written in 1 Timothy 3:16, to teach, state mistakes, correct behavior, and educate people in truth. Likewise the role of the goal of a sermon. However, there has not been an effective preacher in conveying the message of God’s Word. Every preacher has a unique method, way and style of communication his sermon, both verbally and non-verbally, but the purpose of a sermon is to transform new life the congregation or listeners, as the Holy Spirit does. The aims of this research are : First, a theological study of the use of the story by the Prophet Nathan to David in the text of 2 Samuel 12:1-13. Second, the preacher can discover biblically about the role and effectiveness of illustratations in the form of stories that have the power of pathos. Third, the preacher, the application of the use of illustrations in the form of stories in achieving the goals of preaching in the church today.AbstrakKhotbah adalah sebuah sarana yang diciptakan oleh Allah untuk mengkomunikasikan tujuan-Nya bagi umat-Nya, sebagaimana fungsi Alkitab yang tertulis dalam 1 Timotius 3:16, untuk mengajar, menyatakan kesalahan, memperbaiki kelakukan, dan mendidik orang dalam kebenaran. Demikian juga peran tujuan dari sebuah khotbah. Setiap pengkhotbah memiliki metode, cara dan gaya yang khas dalam mengkomunikasi khotbahnya, baik secara verbal dan non verbal, namun tujuan sebuah khotbah adalah mentransformasikan kehidupan baru dalam diri jemaat atau pendengarnya, seperti yang dikerjakan Roh Kudus. Tujuannya penelitian ini, yaitu: Pertama,merupakan sebuah kajian teologis mengenai penggunaan cerita oleh Nabi Natan kepada Raja Daud dalam teks 2 Samuel 12:1-13. Kedua, pengkhotbah dapat menemukan secara biblika mengenai peran dan keefektifan ilustrasi dalam bentuk cerita yang memiliki kekuatan pathos. Ketiga, pengkhotbah, pengaplikasian penggunaan ilustrasi bentuk cerita dalam pencapaian tujuan khotbah di gereja dan jemaat masa kini.]]>
