In this articel, the author to emphasize the importance of paying attention to the tension between deaconia/charity service and transformative service in the church. While observing this tension, the church today is urged to implement transformative deaconia. The urged is certainly based on the context of human life which is on colored by so much suffering which is quite a lot cause by social, cultural and economic system and structures that are unjust. In that context, the diaconia of the church does not only stop at the caracter deaconia, but must show a transformative character.

The Holly Bible provides a very complete view of the theme of sin. Scripture views sin as a matter of human relation with God and fellow creatures, not primarily as a violation of the law. Sin is also understood as a double-faced reality because sin corrupts the human relationship not only with God but also with others. Even sin destroys human existence and dignity. Moreover, Scripture never speaks of sin separately from the theological idea of God’s goodness and mercy. Thus, sin does not at all undo God’s plan to save man and the universe.

The Vatikan Council II has returned the Church is essence as a believer community. Thus, the Church is not longer identify the clergy, but include of the laity. The laity are recognized their dignity as a member of the Church with their distinctive roles anda functions in the world order. The laity are called to the direct world order on Christ. The task can only be realized if the laity undertand the contex of the realization call properly and correctly. The first, the laity must be recognized the sign of age. It means that, the laity have to have sense of sensitvity. They are also must be in networking each other. Finally, they must be know and holdfirm fundamental principles of Christianity.

Leadership is an important aspect of Church life. In fact, the style of leadership that are carried out in the Church must reflect the teachings of faith and theology as well as the basic principles in the Church. It must not conflict with the basic spirit of the Church. With that, the meaning of Church presence as sacrament of salvation in the middle of the world becomes clear and felt. In this article, it is emphasized that the surviving pastoral-centric style of leadership in the Church is not problematic in the context of pastoral management, but also contradicts the theology and the principle of Church social teaching. At the very least, this leadership contradicts the nature of the Church as communion or fellowship, the principles of participation and subsidiarity and the nature of the ministerial priesthood. Therefore, such leadership must be rejected.

This article analyses theological messages of Amos’ prophecy in thepassage of the Prophecy of the Punishment upon the Nations and itsrelevance to the relationship between religious communities. By using themethod of literature study, the author reveals a number of theologicalmessages in the passage, namely Yahweh is the God of all nations, Godupholds human dignity, and Israel’s responsibility as chosen nation. Theauthor also describes the relevance of these theological messages in thecontext of the relationship between religions. Thus, it is hoped that theriches of biblical traditions will inspire adherents of religions, especiallyChristians, to build a constructive relationship with adherents of otherreligions and beliefs in order to achieve world peace.

This study aims to describe and analyze the idea of religious moderation in the cultural perspective of Manggarai, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. Using qualitative methods and with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, the author found that the idea of religious moderation was not something entirely new in Manggarai culture. It was found that the Manggarai people have cultural wisdom which contains the idea of moderation that can be applied in the context of religious life. The idea of such moderation is contained in two things, namely in various expressions and in practice. The various expressions found clearly indicate that the Manggarai people have a clear concept of moderation, including religious moderation. That means that the religious moderation echoed by the government has a clear cultural basis in the context of Manggarai culture.

This study aims to explain some of the basic principles of biblical interpretation in the Catholic Church. Using a literature study approach, the author found at least five basic principles of biblical interpretation in the Catholic Church. The five principles are (1) Catholic interpreters should use a contextual approach to discover the literal meaning of each part of Scripture, and its true meaning as the author intended, (2) Catholic interpreters should pay close attention to the content and unity of the entire Scripture, (3) the analogy of faith, namely that there is a unity and consistency of God's truth revealed for salvation both expressed in Scripture, tradition, as well as Church teaching, (4) the language of Scripture that uses diverse expressions does not mean to be understood as it is, (5) portions of the Old Testament should be interpreted in the light of Jesus Christ and the New Testament. These five principles are expected to be the knowledge and guide for Catholics in reading and interpreting Scripture so as to avoid interpretations that are contrary to the faith of the Church. [Studi ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan beberapa prinsip dasar penafsiran Kitab Suci dalam Gereja Katolik. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka, penulis menemukan sekurang-kurangnya lima prinsip dasar penafsiran Kitab Suci dalam Gereja Katolik. Kelima prinsip tersebut adalah (1) penafsir Katolik hendaknya menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual guna menemukan makna harafiah dari setiap bagian Kitab Suci, dan arti sesungguhnya sebagaimana dimaksud penulisnya, (2) penafsir Katolik harus memperhatikan dengan saksama isi dan kesatuan seluruh Kitab Suci, (3) analogi iman, yakni bahwa terdapat satu-kesatuan dan konsistensi kebenaran Allah yang diungkapkan bagi keselamatan baik yang diungkapkan dalam Kitab Suci, tradisi, maupun ajaran Gereja, (4) bahasa Kitab Suci yang menggunakan ungkapan yang beraneka ragam tidak berarti harus dipahami sebagaimana adanya, (5) bagian-bagian dari Perjanjian Lama hendaknya ditafsirkan dalam terang Yesus Kristus dan Perjanjian Baru. Kelima prinsip ini diharapkan menjadi pengetahuan dan pegangan bagi orang Katolik dalam membaca dan menafsir Kitab Suci sehingga terhindar dari penafsiran yang bertentangan dengan iman Gereja.]
