This experimental research aims to determine the effectiveness of language learning theory textbooks in improving student learning outcomes. This research was conducted at the STKIP Yapis Dompu Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program. As the sample, two classes were selected whose students obtained almost the same pretest results. The students were grouped into two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. This study used a post test control group design. The results of this study found that learning using new language learning theory teaching materials from the development results (textbooks) was effective. experiment is higher than the control class. From this difference, it can be said that learning with new teaching materials as a result of development is more effective than using old teaching materials. Likewise with the results of the Chi Square test, the average calculated value x2 is greater than the critical value x2. The high difference in the average value of the calculated x2 with the critical value of x2 indicates that the effectiveness of using the newly developed teaching materials to improve learning outcomes about language learning theory is significant. The significance of the effectiveness of the use of new teaching materials as a result of this development is inseparable from the advantages possessed by the new teaching materials as a result of development, including: 1) Using a learning approach that is able to increase student activity and creativity; 2) Using simple language so that it is easy to understand; and 3) The contents are complete, starting from orientation, discussion, exercises, formative tests along with answer keys, how to score learning outcomes, glossaries and references. All of this helps students learn independently. The point is this teaching material is a representation of the teaching activities of lecturers in class.
