Abstract

Several factors influence children's character; they are hereditary and environmental factors. Hereditary factors come from their parents' genetics, while environmental factors come from the closest environment in a child's life. The environmental factors could be family, school, or traumatic incidents that have occurred in their life. Parents' attitude and behavior is the child's closest environments. Parents' norm greatly influences the development of children's character, including faith and the future values of children's lives. Parents who teach children about good life values, provide rewards and punishments proportional to their age and developmental level, and provide a good measurement of norms in children's lives will make children who are close to their parents diligent in meditation and get good grades in school. Children who are raised inconsistently in giving good ordinances often get punishment and rarely even ever get rewarded, inconsistency of norms and lessons from their parents, do not that close with their parents, have a gruff character, do not diligent in meditation, and tend to get insufficient grades in school. This study concludes that there is a correlation between the educational pattern of Christian parents in Beru, Jrahi Village, Gunungwungkal District, Pati Regency to the children's character.
