Abstract

This study aimed to know the effect of the flipped classroom model on students' writing skill in class XI SMA Negeri 18 Makassar. This study focused on pre-experimental research one group pre-test and post-test. The population in this study were students of class XI SMAN 18 Makassar. The writer took 270 students as the population. A random sampling technique was used to take one class as the research sample, totaling 30 students. Data obtained from writing test. The results of this study used inferential analysis of the t-test by SPSS v.16, which showed a significant effect on the students’ mean score writing skill between the pretest and post-test. The mean score of the students’ writing enhanced from 52.33 in the pretest to 82.03 in the posttest. The significance value calculated 0.000 is smaller than 0.05 (P-value = 0.000 < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that the flipped classroom model is effect applied to students’ writing skill in class XI at SMA Negeri 18 Makassar.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this research was to find out if there is a significant difference before and after being taught GIST strategy in recount text for students in writing skill especially in summarization at SMPN 8 Makassar in the academic year 2021/2022. The data were collected through two tests, pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was students of SMPN 8 Makassar 2020/2022 academic year and the sample of this research was 33 students. Then the data collected by using writing test which was applied in pre-test and post-test, and the treatment was given before the post-test in treatment carried out using GIST Strategy. The process of this research took four meetings. The result of this study was analyzed by using Paired Sample Test on SPSS 26. According to the result of this research using GIST strategy could increase students’ writing summary. It was proven by the result of Paired Sample Test on pre-test and post-test scores, which show the value sig. (2-tailed) is 0.00. Therefore it means that there is a significant impact in this research using GIST strategy to increase students’ writing Summary. Key Words : Wrting Summary, Recount Text, GIST

Abstract

This research is aim to find out whether there is a significant influence of using Technology, Entertainment, and Design) TED-Talk media on students’ speaking skill. This research uses the pre-experimental research method. The population of this research is students of the second-grade of IPA 3 of SMAN 1 Mamuju in academic year 2021/2022. The number of the sample are 20 students. The researcher collected the data by giving pre-test, treatment, post-test, and questionnaire. The data of this research is analyzed by SPSS 24 version. The researcher conludes that there was significant influence of using TED-Talk media on students’ speaking skill. It supported by the results of mean score in pre-test and post-test. The mean score in pre-test was 42.60, while in post-test was 79.00. The results of this study shows that the significance value is 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05. It shows that the the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected. This means that there are significant influence of using TED-Talk on students’ speaking skill.
