Abstract

Background: Anemia among adolescent girls remains a major public health problem in Indonesia because it adversely affects growth, learning ability, productivity, reproductive health, and increases the risk of pregnancy-related complications in later life. In addition, many adolescent girls experience negative body image due to the influence of social media and unrealistic beauty standards. Health education has predominantly relied on conventional information delivery methods and has rarely integrated local wisdom as a learning approach. However, Langkat Regency possesses rich Malay cultural values and abundant local food resources that can be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of health education. Several local food-based educational programs have demonstrated improvements in knowledge related to anemia prevention, indicating that a local wisdom-based approach deserves further development. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of local wisdom-based health education on anemia prevention and the improvement of positive body image among adolescent girls in Langkat Regency. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group design. The intervention group received local wisdom-based health education for four weeks, while the control group received conventional health education. The measured variables included knowledge of anemia, anemia prevention behaviors, adherence to iron and folic acid supplementation, and body image. Expected Results: Local wisdom-based health education is expected to significantly improve knowledge of anemia, anemia prevention behaviors, adherence to iron and folic acid supplementation, and positive body image compared with conventional health education. Conclusion: The integration of local cultural values into health education is expected to serve as an effective health promotion model for improving the health status of adolescent girls while simultaneously preserving local cultural heritage.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The development of creative products based on local potential is one of the community empowerment strategies that can increase the economic value of regional resources. Lack of product innovation, limited marketing skills, and low utilization of local potential are major obstacles to increasing community income. This community service program aimed to improve community capabilities in developing creative products based on local potential to enhance economic income. The implementation methods included identifying local potential, training in creative product manufacturing, product packaging assistance, digital marketing education, and activity evaluation. The target participants were 25 community members and small business actors in the assisted area. The results showed an increase in participants’ knowledge and skills in processing local resources into marketable products. In addition, the community began to market products through digital media and showed increased motivation in developing independent businesses. This program proved effective in encouraging community economic empowerment based on local potential. Keywords: Creative Products, Local Potential, Community Empowerment, Community Income, Small Businesses ABSTRAK Pengembangan produk kreatif berbasis potensi lokal merupakan salah satu strategi pemberdayaan masyarakat yang dapat meningkatkan nilai ekonomi sumber daya daerah. Kurangnya inovasi produk, keterbatasan keterampilan pemasaran, dan rendahnya pemanfaatan potensi lokal menjadi kendala utama dalam peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan masyarakat dalam mengembangkan produk kreatif berbasis potensi lokal sehingga mampu meningkatkan pendapatan ekonomi masyarakat. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi potensi lokal, pelatihan pembuatan produk kreatif, pendampingan pengemasan produk, edukasi pemasaran digital, serta evaluasi hasil kegiatan. Sasaran kegiatan adalah kelompok masyarakat dan pelaku usaha kecil di wilayah binaan dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 25 orang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengolah potensi lokal menjadi produk bernilai jual. Selain itu, masyarakat mulai mampu memasarkan produk melalui media digital dan mengalami peningkatan motivasi dalam mengembangkan usaha mandiri. Program ini terbukti efektif dalam mendorong pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat berbasis potensi lokal. Kata Kunci: Produk Kreatif, Potensi Lokal, Pemberdayaan Masyarakat, Pendapatan Masyarakat, UMKM
