Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of word wall media on students' vocabulary mastery in the fifth grade at MI Baitul Amar Batam. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing a pretest-posttest control group design. The study included all fifth-grade students at MI Baitul Amar Batam as the target population, and a sample was selected using a simple random sampling method. The experimental group received the intervention of word wall media, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The research involved conducting a pretest to assess the students' initial understanding of vocabulary. Then, the Word Wall strategy was implemented in two cycles, each consisting of three sessions and a post-test. The aim was to observe any improvements in students' vocabulary mastery after the implementation of the strategy. The findings of the study indicated that the Word Wall strategy had a positive impact on students' vocabulary mastery. This was evident through increased mean scores, improved success rates, and higher test scores in the post-tests. The utilization of word wall media was found to enhance students' comprehension of vocabulary at the fifth grade level. Based on these results, the study suggests that incorporating word wall media in teaching practices can be an effective approach to enhance students' understanding and mastery of vocabulary.
