Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is still high in Indonesia, one of which is due to prolonged labor. The thing that plays an important role in the labor process is the pushing force and this can be done by following pregnancy exercises. The purpose of pregnancy exercise is to train breathing and pelvic cavity muscles before delivery. The purpose of this research was to determine the correlation of pregnancy exercise on the duration of the first stage of labor at TPMB Ferie Kusuma K. This research method used an analytical survey design with a prospective cohort approach. The population was all mothers in labor from July to September 2021. The sampling technique used simple random sampling so that the sample size was 34 people. The research instrument used is a checklist and a partograph. Data analysis using Fisher Exact test. Research shows that the majority of pregnant women who carry out pregnancy exercises regularly are 27 people (79.4%). The appropriate length of the first stage of labor was 28 people (82.3%). The results of the statistical test showed that there was a relationship between pregnancy exercise and the duration of the first stage of labor with a p-value of 0.000 and OR = 23,429. The labor process is shorter for pregnant women who routinely do pregnancy exercise because pregnancy exercise can strengthen muscles, flex joints, and can train concentration so that they can divert their minds so can forget the pain during childbirth. Pregnant women should routinely carry out pregnancy exercise activities in antenatal classes.
