Abstract

India possesses ample opportunities for economic growth, resulting in a surge in electricity demand. As per the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), India's rank on environmental health and ecosystem viability stands at a lowly 168th out of 180 countries. Historically, India relied on fossil fuels for electricity generation, leading to substantial environmental degradation that have harmed the environment. In recent times, India has diversified its electricity generation sources, incorporating not only fossil fuels but also nuclear power and renewable resources. However, despite these changes, India still struggles with high CO2 emissions which indicates the level of environmental degradation. Hence, this study aims to investigate the sources of energy consumption in India: fossil fuels, renewable energy, and nuclear energy. By utilising the ARDL and NARDL methodologies, this study enriches the empirical studies by examining energy consumption trends in India from 1985 to 2021. The findings of this study shed light on whether the adoption of renewable energy and nuclear energy significantly aids in reducing carbon emissions in India, thereby facilitating the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG), Therefore, it is of the utmost necessity for India to emphasize the formation of clean energy in their energy policy to achieve the SDG7 by the year 2030. This study found a positive correlation between GDP per capita and CO2 emissions, highlighting the urgent need to reduce India's dependency on fossil fuels. The ARDL analysis further confirms that fossil fuel-generated energy contributes to CO2 emissions, whereas nuclear-generated energy reduces them.

Abstract

Major concerns about the food security involving wheat production emerged when the conflict between Russia and Ukraine worsened because both countries were the main suppliers of wheat to 38 countries. This study aims to explore the competitiveness level of wheat production countries and the future exporters that may lead to global wheat production during the Russia-Ukraine crisis. This study analyzed the comparative advantages of the five largest wheat exporters from 2001 to 2021 using the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and revealed symmetrical comparative advantage (RSCA) indices to examine the current level of wheat export competitiveness of the five major exporters. This study also predicts the three major wheat-producing countries (excluding Russia and Ukraine) using 83-month observations to forecast the autoregressive integrated moving average in the next six months. The findings disclosed that all major wheat countries were strongly competitive, and the forecast unveiled that Australia is capable to lead the wheat producing countries in the next six months. This evaluation was derived from the ARIMA approach’s forecast, demonstrating Australia to be statistically greater than the USA and Canada.

Abstract

In the digital era, smart tourism has gained significant prominence, revolutionising the tourism industry through advanced technologies that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and visitor experience. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of 531 documents on smart tourism published between 2014 and February 2025, using data from Scopus. The analysis is conducted using Microsoft Excel, BiblioMagika, OpenRefine, and VOSviewer to examine publication trends, influential studies, and emerging research themes. By leveraging bibliometric tools and leading academic databases, this research provides insights into the intellectual structure of smart tourism literature and identifies future research directions. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the evolution of smart tourism research, offering valuable implications for scholars and industry practitioners.

Abstract

This bibliometric analysis examines the research landscape of "Renewable Energy" and "Energy Markets" from 2000 to 2023, with a specific focus on emerging trends during 2023 to 2024. The novelty of this study lies in its integration of bibliometric tools to analyse keywords, global contributions, thematic evolution, and future research directions. Using data extracted from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), the study employs advanced bibliometric techniques, including keyword and term co-occurrence mapping through VosViewer. The findings reveal significant growth in research output in recent years, with 29 percent of Scopus and 44 percent of Web of Science publications produced during 2023 to 2024. China and the United States lead global contributions, while Malaysia and India exhibit rapid growth, each contributing more than 70 percent of their research in this period. Keyword analysis shows blockchain technologies, microgrids, and peer-to-peer energy trading as dominant themes, reflecting the rise of decentralised and digital energy systems. Thematic clusters underscore the convergence of technological innovation, policy frameworks, economic modelling, and regional strategies. Co-authorship networks reveal active collaboration across Asia-Pacific and European countries. Journal articles are the primary output type, with early-access publications highlighting the urgency of disseminating new findings. This study provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the evolving discourse in renewable energy and energy markets. It offers actionable insights for researchers and policymakers while identifying underexplored areas that merit further investigation. The results support interdisciplinary approaches to addressing global energy challenges and advancing sustainable energy transitions.
