Abstract

The purpose of this study was to illuminate the experiences of women and children on Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) advocacy campaign in San Miguelay, Sta. Fe, Leyte, Philippines. The methodology used was a descriptive phenomenology. Six women respondents were interviewed using semi-structured questionnaires and interview transcripts were recorded and interpreted using a thematic analysis. Results revealed that isolated physical violence was experienced by women that affected children as well. Being isolated, it did not reflect the overall sentiment of the residents. These cases were reported to the barangay council, settled between parties mirroring a safe and secure environment with a culture of respect, continuing education, and strong institutional support as themes on upholding women's rights while addressing vulnerabilities.
