Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of the Tasikmalaya City Government in developing sport tourism through the implementation of the Unsil–Tasik Half Marathon 2025. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study method to understand the formulation, implementation, and impacts of the event on the community and city image. Key informants included the Tasikmalaya City Government, Siliwangi University, MSME actors, hotel sector representatives, running communities, and the organizing committee. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions (FGDs) and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model consisting of data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the government’s strategy emphasizes cross-sector collaboration through the pentahelix approach, which positively affects local economic growth, community participation, and cultural promotion. However, its effectiveness remains suboptimal due to limited resources, sponsorship, and external promotion. The study implies the need to establish a Tourism Board, strengthen public–private partnerships, and optimize digital promotion to position Tasikmalaya as an adaptive and competitive sport tourism city.
