Abstract

Abstract Jambi Malays have diverse traditions, such as the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition in the village of Muara Madas, Jambi. The purpose of this research is to find out the hadith foundation behind the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition. As for data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis process in this study uses Peter L. Berger's sociology of knowledge theory. The results of this study indicate that the practice of the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition in the village of Muara Madras is the practice of the Hadith helping each other which originates from the traditional motto "tudung manudung bak daun sihei" which means helping each other, the strong help the weak and the weak are assisted by the strong. In Peter L. Berger's theory of the sociology of knowledge, the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition has three processes, namely; (a) Externalization which is the understanding of religious leaders about the Hadith of mutual help which is then applied in the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition. (b) Objectification, namely the response of the Muara Madras village community regarding the Payung Sekaki marriage tradition. (c) Internalization, namely when individuals internalize the rules of marriage and social guidelines around the marriage so that it becomes part of their personal beliefs, values and behavior. Keywords: Living Hadith, Marriage, Payung Sekaki Abstrak Melayu Jambi memiliki tradisi yang beranekaragam, seperti dalam tradisi Nikah Payung Sekaki yang berada di desa Muara Madas, Jambi. (b) Objektivikasi, yakni respon masyarakat desa Muara Madras terkait tradisi nikah Payung Sekaki. Abstract

Abstract The elements of human creation mentioned by al-Qur'an and al-Kitab have similarities, although it needs to be recognized that al-Qur'an is more explicit in explaining it. This then triggers an expansion of meaning carried out by the Qur'an against al-Kitab. This research focuses on the elements of human creation using the theory of intertextuality initiated by Julia Kristeva. There are two main problems that will be answered in the research, namely how the Qur'an and al-Kitab explain the elements of human formation and how the intertextuality approach is able to explain the elements of human formation contained in the Qur'an and al-Kitab. The purpose of this research is to find the relationship between the elements of human creation in al-Qur'an and al-Kitab. The method used in this research is descriptive analytic with library research. The data were collected through books, articles, journals, and writings related to the research theme. The results show that between al-Qur'an and al-Kitab in explaining the elements of human creation has a transposition of textual relationships that are not only included in the parallel category but also in the categories of expansion, existence, and conversion. Expansion occurs when the Qur'an has expanded the meaning of the elements of human creation in al-Kitab, namely soil, water, and spirit. Existence is when the Qur'an raises water terms explicitly as an element of human creation, including semen. Conversion is the contradiction between the texts of al-Qur’an and al-Kitab regarding who was created from soil. Al-Kitab narrates that only Adam was created from soil and Hawa was created from Adam's rib, while the Qur'an narrates that Adam and Eve were created from the same element, namely soil. Abstract

The translation of the Qur'an into various languages is not only done by Muslims, but non-Muslims  (orientalists) also participate in translating it. There was a very long polemic during the translation of the Qur'an. The purpose of this research is to elaborate on the role and development of the Qur'an translation among orientalists that later gave birth to the characteristics (model) of translation. This research uses descriptive analytical method with library research. The data were obtained through books, articles, journals, and other writings related to the research theme. The results show that there are three characteristics of translation in the role and development of al-Qur'an translation by orientalists. First, the translation was aimed at undermining Islam. This lasted from the 12th century AD to the 17th century AD. Second, the translation of the Qur'an began to reduce the elements of hatred against Islam and they began to be open to the corpus of Muslim interpretations, although there were still few traces of their predecessors. This period lasted from the 17th century to the 19th century, and it should be noted that the 18th century became the starting point of the translation paradigm shift. Third, the translation of the Qur'an that has begun to be objective. Third, the translation of the Qur'an that has been friendly and objective. The 9th century until now is a bright spot for orientalists who translate the Qur'an. Many of the orientalists began to be open and gentle in explaining Islam, they also often use Muslim interpretations as a reference. In fact, some of them when explaining Islam there are trying to defend Islam from the attacks of previous orientalists.
