Abstract

Producer construction of Riau Malay cultural identity formed through commodities and communication with the main target being the Riau people in Riau Malay culture at LPP TVRI Riau. In forming Riau Malay cultural identity, producers use commodities associated with Riau Malay culture, such as dances, songs, culinary arts, and traditional clothing. Producers also use the right communication to reach the main target, namely the Riau people in Riau Malay culture. In this case, the producer pays attention to the language used, the values held by the people of Riau, as well as the traditions and habits that exist in the community. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. There are ten informants taken through purvosive techniques. Types and sources of data were obtained through primary data and secondary data. Data collection was carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. Furthermore, checking the validity of the data was carried out by extending participation and triangulation. The results of this study indicate that the producer's construction of Riau Malay cultural identity is formed through commodities and communication with the main target being the Riau people in Riau Malay culture at LPP TVRI RIAU. It can be concluded that mass media producers have a very important role in the formation of Malay cultural identity in Riau . Through the commodities they produce and the communications they make with the people of Riau, producers can form the desired Malay cultural identity. Mass media such as LPP TVRI Riau play an important role in shaping Malay cultural identity in Riau by presenting content based on Malay culture and exploring traditional values held by the people of Riau. Through these contents, producers can strengthen Malay cultural identity in Riau and introduce it to the wider community.

Abstract

Fashion and clothing are used as the delivery of non-verbal messages about one's self to others. It also makes how Thrift fashion enthusiasts communicate themselves when wearing Thrift fashion. Various kinds of assumptions about Thrift attract the attention of researchers to dig deeper into the meaning of fashion as communication in fashion Thrift. This research is a descriptive qualitative research using data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman models. The results of this study indicate that because of motives that influence FISIP University of Riau students to use Fashion Thrift in their daily style are social environment factors, social media or mass media and places close to secondhand shops. Abstract

Abstrak : Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap secara komprehensif komodifikasi dan pengaburan makna simbol agama dan budaya Betawi melalui sinetron Tukang Bubur Naik Haji di RCTI. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma kritis dengan kajian ekonomi politik komunikasi. Untuk mengungkap temuan peneliti menggunakan analisis semiotika dari Rolan Barthes. Untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian menggunakan analisis teks, studi dokumentasi, studi literatur, observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol agama Islam dan budaya Betawi telah dikomodifikasi, dikaburkan bahkan dieksploitasi sebagai komoditas untuk diperdagangkan. Simbol-simbol tersebut dikombinasikan sebagai kemasan yang keberadaaanya dikomersialkan, dimanipulasi dan direkayasa melalui penggunaan kata, kalimat, adegan yang sensasional, provokatif dan hiperbola untuk menarik khalayak dan memperoleh pengiklan. Simbol-simbol agama ini maknanya mengalami penyimpangan, bahkan keberadaanya sangat berkuasa untuk dapat menarik khalayak sehingga sinetron ini dapat bertahan lama tayang.Kata kunci: ekonomi politik komunikasi, komodifikasi, simbol agama dan sinetron

Abstract

Critical Communication Paradigm: An Alternative for Science Communication. Thispaper attempts to explain the process of dehumanization in the number of social reality and the developmentof science communication. To overcome this, a critical paradigm as a grand theory of communication isoffered as an option. As an alternative paradigm of this paradigm is expected to be able to free people fromthe cultural and social structures that contain elements of injustice, oppression, domination anddehumanization. This paradigm has the power to change what had happened to the science, theory, practicecommunication and social reality itself.
