<![CDATA[ABSTRACTThis research is intended to explain in what area the meaning of the word Fahsya>' in the Al-Quran and how M. Quraish Shihab's view in Tafsir Al-Mishbah. This research is library research. And using the Maudhu'i interpretation method whose primary source is Tafsir Al-Mishbah. And the secondary sources are taken from various books, books, and journals that are. The word fahsya' is quite interesting to discuss because: First, the word fahsya>' has three derivations in the Qur'an, namely fahsya>', fa>hisyah, and fa>wahisy. Each of these words has a different area of meaning when it is in one sentence in the Qur'an. Second, the word fahsya>' in Arabic is mentioned as a bad deed and adultery while M. Quraish Shibab views this meaning as a meaning that has a fairly broad scope of meaning. The result of this research is that almost all of the use of the word fahsya>' is not accompanied by the mention of the sin referred to by fahsya>' in the verse, but in the view of M. Quraish Shihab the form of fahsya' when associated with the sentence of the verse can broadly mean that the act of fahsya>' in al-Qur’an. Then the use of the word fa>hisyah is almost always accompanied by a sign or mention of the sins referred to in the verse and all fa>hisyah actions are almost all related to sexual. while fa>wahisy, shows the act of sins in general, namely major sins and minor sins. With this, M.
