Abstract

The aims of this study are to determine the competition effect and the application of sustainable financial performance on the profitability of the banking industry in Indonesia. Purposive sampling was used on the Indonesian Stock Exchange in 2018-2021. The analysis used the panel data regression method. Return on Assets was used as the dependent variable, and the independent variable used banking competition and the application of sustainable financial performance, while the control variable used Net Interest Margin, Capital Adequacy Ratio, Loans to Deposit Ratio, and Non Performance Loans. For the results, the right model is used Fixed Effect effect model, with market share, economic performance, environmental performance, and Net Interest Margin having a positive and significant effect on the profitability of the banking industry, while the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index has a negative and significant effect on the profitability of the banking industry. However, governance performance, social performance, Capital Adequacy Ratio, Loans to Deposit Ratio, and Non Performance Loans have no effect on banking industry profitability.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the influence of green risk perception, green trust, and environmental awareness on online hotel booking intentions in Indonesia. It also explores whether environmental awareness moderates the relationship between green risk perception and booking intention. Methods: A quantitative approach was applied using a survey distributed via social media platforms. A purposive sampling method targeted respondents who had stayed at eco-friendly hotels at least once in the past year. Data from 180 valid responses were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SPSS and AMOS to test validity, reliability, and hypothesis relationships. Results: The findings show that green risk perception has a significant positive effect on green trust, and green trust significantly influences online booking intention. In contrast, green risk perception does not significantly affect booking intention, and environmental awareness does not moderate this relationship. Conclusions: The results indicate that trust in hotels’ environmental commitments is more influential in shaping online booking intentions than risk perception or awareness levels. Other practical factors, such as convenience and ease of access, may play a stronger role in consumer decision-making. Limitations: The study is limited by its non-probability sampling approach and the specific focus on eco-friendly hotels in Indonesia, which restricts the generalizability to broader populations or international contexts. Contributions: This study contributes to the literature on green consumer behavior by clarifying the distinct roles of trust, risk, and awareness in online booking decisions. It provides insights for hotel managers to prioritize transparency and trust-building in sustainability communication strategies.

Abstract

Sustainable development is global agenda for right now. This is in line with the increasing environmental crisis, social inequality, and economic instability. Concept of a circular economy was developed to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and promote economic and environmental sustainability. From Islamic economic perspective, principles of sustainability, justice, and public interest have become part of the development goals formulated in the maqasid al-shariah. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative conceptual framework, which positions sharia insurance as a link between the normative values of maqasid al-shariah and the practical implementation of a circular economy. Aims of this research is to analyze the conceptual link between Islamic insurance, maqasid al-shariah, and the circular economy in building a sustainable Islamic financial framework. Research method uses a literature study with a normative conceptual approach to Islamic economic theory, sustainable finance, and the circular economy. The analysis was conducted by examining the main principles of Islamic insurance, particularly ta'āwun, justice, and collective risk management, and their relevance to the goals of maqasid al-shariah and the circular economy. Research findings indicate a strong alignment between the principles of Islamic insurance and the values of the circular economy and maqasid al-shariah. The integration of the three has the potential to strengthen social and economic resilience, promote the development of green investment, and expand the role of Islamic finance in supporting sustainable development. Therefore, sharia insurance can be used as an instrument to support economic sustainability based on Islamic values.
