Abstract

Advances in imaging technology have made medical images become one of the important sources for information in supporting accurate diagnoses and treatment decisions by doctors for their patients. However, the vulnerability of medical images’ security is high. The images can be easily ‘attacked’, which altered their information that can lead to incorrect diagnoses or treatment. In order to make the images less vulnerable from outside attacks, this study proposes to secure them by advancing the watermarking using dual-layer fragile technique. It is expected that this dual-layer fragile watermarkingwill guarantee the integrity, authenticity, and confidentiality of patient’s and any other important information and also the pixel data of the medical images. The work in this study implements two LSBs of image where the role of the first LSB is as a tamper detector, and the second LSB is used to store patient’s and any other important information. Medical images of four deadliest diseases in Indonesia were used to test the proposed watermarking technique. Results from the conducted tests show that the proposed technique able to generate a watermarked image that has no noticeable changes compared to its original image, with PSNR value more than 44 dB and SSIM value of almost 1, where the tamper detector can correctly detect and localize any tampering on the watermarked image. Furthermore, the proposed technique has shown to have a higher level of security on medical images, compared to DICOM standard and standard watermarking method.

Abstract

Everyday criminal issues appear on social media, even some crime news is often disturbing to the public but it gives a warning to the public to remain careful and alert to the surrounding environment. However, following large amounts of crime information on social media is not effective, especially for busy people. Therefore, there is a need to efficiently and effectively summarize information in a way that is meaningful and easy to see, attracts people’s attention, and can be used by law enforcement officials. The purpose of this study is to present the index crime based on social media by looking for patterns of crime. This study proposes the projected index crime based on crime trends by using text mining to classify tweet texts and post contents into 10 crime classes. The classification method uses the neural-net multi classifier algorithm which has several classifiers namely logistic regression, naïve bayes, support vector machine (SVM), and decision tree in parallel. In this approach, the classifier that provides the best accuracy will be the winning classifier and will be used in the next learning process. In this experiment, in using the multi classifier neural-net, the logistics regression classifier often provides the best accuracy.

Abstract

Abstract

Leather shadow puppet performances are slowly becoming isolated. They are no longer attracting the young generation towards its long duration and language complexity, inclusive of its incomprehensible storytelling and characters. To address this gap, this research utilized a descriptive qualitative method and mind map to transcribe and describe key concepts of both redesigning and avatar creation of leather shadow puppet character. The purpose of this study was to explore an alternative method in representing leather puppet performance by implementing a holographic prism glass technique. The digital representation of a leather puppet through a holographic prism glass medium is a manifestation of appreciating Indonesian cultural artwork in the modern era. The contribution of this study is to provide a more detailed explanation of a new manner in exploring and preserving the narrative and figure of the cultural heritage.

Abstract

Iris recognition has been used as one of the biometric systems for user authentication, identification, and verification for quite some time. The basis of an iris recognition lies on the matching algorithm, which requires similarities of the iris data in the database with the captured one. In addition, nowadays using non-cosmetic or prescribed contact lenses becomes more popular and more preferred choice of many people, which makes the number of contact lens wearers significantly increases. These eyes with contact lenses add more complexity to the iris recognition process, since it can disturb the matching process which then affect the performance of the system. This situation has motivated this study to propose an iris recognition system that works for eyes with lenses. The proposed iris recognition system for eyes wearing non-cosmetic contact lenses was developed using circular hough transform (CHT) in the preprocessing phase for iris localization and discrete wavelet transform (DWT) for feature extraction. Experiments conducted on the proposed system has shown promising results with good accuracy of 0.95 for eyes with no contact lens and 0.8 for eyes with non-cosmetic lenses. The findings also suggested the importance of the iris localization process to the performance of the recognition system.

Abstract

A library is essential in education, especially in elementary schools. SD Negeri Rambutan 03 Pagi Jakarta is a public school in East Jakarta with a library. The school library was managed manually, where books with detailed information were stored on a spreadsheet. Some library processes could not perform well, such as tracing how many books were on loan. Based on this situation, a library management system was required to support library activities. Sampoerna University had several collaborations with SD Negeri Rambutan 03 Pagi Jakarta for community services, a workshop, and an internship. In this community service opportunity, We used a qualitative method with internal discussions and literature reviews. We provided a dedicated server machine to be placed on-premise. This machine will be a library automation system over the school's Local Area Network (LAN). Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) was chosen to be installed on the server because it has the required features to support the school library. One of the essential things is that SLiMS is free and open source. The library automation system has been successfully implemented, and there will be future community service activities to continue the library system development.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now commonly used in many sectors, including education. Utilizing AI technology to support learning does not mean replacing the role of educators. The critical role of educators is to teach, educate, and train students to build their skills, knowledge, and morals, which are irreplaceable by AI. SMP Negeri 174 Jakarta is a public junior high school in East Jakarta and would like to receive guidance to upgrade teachers’ competencies in AI. The event lasted half a day and about 39 teachers participated in this agenda. The overall community service activities began in early April 2024 and ended on May 15, 2024, and all main activities were completed 100%. The session was successfully delivered in around two hours with days of preparations. Future recommendation is to include similar topics related to academic activities and technology.

Abstract

The Indonesian tafseer and translation of Holy Quran is an important source of information and knowledge for Indonesian muslims, since not many Indonesian muslims understand Arabic language in the Quran.  However, the tafseer is full of the commentaries and explanation of each surah (chapter) and/or ayah (verse), which form a large document and not so easy to be accessed. Thus, the challenge is how to refer to both tafseer and translation in faster and accurate ways as one needs to always refer to them back and forth. Hence, this study proposes several text mining approaches, i.e.  most frequent words, K-means clustering, and association rules, to analyze an Indonesian tafseer and translation of Quran and provide insights of hidden knowledge and relationships based on statistical information derived from it.   These insights could be useful for muslims in general and for people that doing research in related areas.  This study shows interesting results from combined analysis of the approaches used which can help people accessing information in tafseer more efficiently.  As well, interesting relationships have been drawn from terms in the tafseer which could provide further and deeper knowledge on messages in the Quran.
