Abstract

This study was motivated by the low proficiency of Grade X students at SMA Swasta Kesatria Medan in understanding and writing anecdotal texts, as well as the lack of engaging learning media. The research problem addressed the development process and the feasibility of anecdotal text teaching materials utilizing pop-up book media. The study aimed to produce pop-up book-based teaching materials for anecdotal texts that are suitable for classroom use. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed, utilizing a simplified Borg and Gall model comprising needs analysis, product design, expert validation, and product revision stages. The research subjects included a subject matter expert, a media expert, and 24 Grade X students from SMA Swasta Kesatria Medan. The results indicated that the pop-up book-based teaching materials achieved feasibility scores of 87.8% from the subject matter expert and 99.2% from the media expert, placing them in the "highly feasible" category. Consequently, the developed teaching materials are suitable for use as a learning medium to help improve students' understanding of and interest in anecdotal texts.
