Abstract

Communication skills really need to be provided to prospective teachers. Success This research aims to analyze the impact of Ethno-SETSaR science learning on prospective teacher communication. The research method used was an experiment with a non-equivalent group design. The sample of this research is 120 prospective teacher students. The data collection technique used is observation. The data analysis technique used is ANOVA. Hypothesis testing is that there are differences in communication skills between the experimental group and the control group. The research results obtained by the science learning program using the E-SETSAR approach can improve communication skills. Eight student communication indicators with scores greater than ≥ 65 for the experimental class. Conduct investigations, prepare investigation reports, discussions and presentations which are learning activities. Learning basic science concepts involves scientific investigation activities to find community problems related to the culture of the surrounding community to be studied from the SETSaR aspect to train communication skills. Therefore, learning is designed to facilitate students to think and convey their ideas.

Abstract

Understanding concepts and life skills is important for students to develop. This study aims to analize effects of teaching materials on learning salt factory topics based on ethnoscience to improve mastery of concepts and life skills. This research is a quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent design. Data collection techniques in this study used tests to measure concepts and questionnaires to measure life skills. The research instruments were multiple choice tests and a Likert scale questionnaire. The instrument meets the validity and reliability. The sample in this study was 77 elementary school students. Data analysis technique used  paired t-tests, and one ways ANOVA. The application of ethnoscience-based thematic learning tools in experimental 1 and experiment 2 showed higher concept understanding posttest results compared to control groups with conventional learning. This was proved by the sig value. < 0.05 and the average posttest score in experiment class 1 was 80.32 and experiment 2 was 83.37 higher than the control class of 75.25. learning physics salt factory materials sourced from local wisdom can increase mastery of concepts and increase understanding of life skills. This teaching effective enough in improving the mastery of concepts and developing students' life skills.

Abstract

The practicum experience in laboratory settings plays a pivotal role in cultivating essential life skills among students. This study investigates the efficacy of laboratory-based practicums in fostering students' life skills through the utilization of authentic assessment methods. Employing a pre-experimental approach with a one-shot case study design, the research focuses on 5th-semester Physics students engaged in practicum activities, totaling 26 participants. Purposive sampling was employed to determine the research sample. Data collection involved observation techniques, life skills questionnaires, and interviews to evaluate laboratory utilization. Descriptive statistics were employed for data analysis. Findings reveal that practicum-based authentic assessments yield commendable results in students' life skills development, with an average score of 3.73, indicating proficiency. The practicum experience in the laboratory setting facilitates the cultivation of these skills, positioning students to excel in the contemporary industrial landscape characterized by technological advancements. Beyond mere swiftness, individuals in this era must possess adaptable life skills to effectively fulfill their responsibilities, confront challenges with confidence, and adeptly resolve encountered issues.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the natural science concept of the funeral process for the bodies of the Javanese people. This research is a qualitative research method of phenomonology. This research involved the Brebes community who carried out this activity. Data collection techniques used are interviews and scientific documents. The research instrument used was interviews. The validity of the data was obtained using the triangulation method. Data analysis techniques namely data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study the process of burial of the bodies of the Brebes community includes 4 (four) activities: (1) bathing, (2) shrouding, (3) lighting, and (4) burying. The funeral process for bodies can be reconstructed into formal science/science at school. The depth of the grave is the standard measurement, which is 160 cm and 2 meters long and the height of the pile of soil is 75 cm. The circle that is placed on the head of the deceased serves as a pillow, 7 of which are placed between the neck and head, the hip area, and the feet. The body is laid on its side and facing the Qibla. The wood used as “tenger”/tombstone is of the teak/albasiar type. The body was closed using a board. The type of soil used for graves that has a loose texture. The types of flowers sprinkled over the grave are jasmine, magnolia, and roses. The process of treating the corpse has been carried out from generation to generation. The burial process of the corpse can be used as a learning resource for basic science courses in science teaching.

Abstract

Education is one of the factors that prepare societies to handle climate change. Humanity must step up efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions and prepare humanity for future crises. The development and validation the SLP of the SIP-SPP course is an effort to mitigate climate change through physics learning. The Plomp development design with three main stages: preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment to produces valid, practical, and effective semester learning plan products. The characteristics of the resulting semester learning plan product are the learning objective of adopting the thirteenth SDGs is climate change mitigation, adopting EfSD competencies are CPS, assessment learning objectives with environmental literacy questionnaires and CPS performance observation rubrics in groups, learning activities based on peatland-smart projects, learning content heat and thermodynamics, peatlands, climate change, and region. SLP is valid and reliable according to experts and practitioners, practical and easy to use, and can improve the CPS of prospective physics teacher students. SLP of SIP-SPP needs to be developed and validated to make it easier for lecturers and science lecturers, especially physics, to adopt SDGs and EfSD in learning. Environmental literacy of prospective teacher students will be a mitigation of climate change.
